I don't see much of a "flight from" certification
as much as a lack of a "flight to" it. Assuming
that a college degree isn't considered a
"certification," I've never had a job or potential
job, either as a candidate or a hiring manager,
where having or not having a certification made
any differen

As long as "certification" is based solely on taking classes
and passing tests, the only thing it tells you is that the
person holding it took classes and retained the information
long enough to pass the tests. If the certification is like a PE
license that requires time OTJ and endorsements th
Don't forget botched surgeries, too.
Certification is only as good as the person using it. Which is why I
mentioned accountability. Those able to hold certified folks
accountable either have some knowledge about the certification or are
certified themselves. Otherwise it's just another game of "I
