after inserting password I get an Authentication failure message (both
for root or standard user in case screensaver starts).
I guess that the two symptoms are connected.

That probably is it, yes. I had checking the RAM requirements on my todo
list for weeks, but never got time for it. I think, the last time anyone
checked, it needed at least 768 in most cases.

I have installed F17 Beta, then I updated the system both with
updates and updates-testing...

I upgraded from F-16 to F-17 Beta, then upgraded to find that I couldn't
delete my own files!!! after disabling Selinux and enabling it again
(i.e. relabeling) everything is o.k.Anybody experiencing it??

the different OSes, is indeed a pain with
this grub2. But with extra help, and patience, It can be done. Tom has worked
it out, but I wonder if he has saved the changes in the /etc/grub2/default file
so that updates won't mess any of his changes?

it was too good to be chainloaded in the ordinary way
and must use the new and improved multiboot instead).

advice. I am getting annoyed, frustrated and I would hate
to kill off selinux, because I actually like it, but the NOT A BUG does bother
me. I have had the past three or four days dealing with this, and now I am
finally doing something about it :(

maybe, but nouveau driver for F16 has not been updated since its first
release, far less than F-17, that has not yet been released. Funny :-(
