proper location. One bad Thomas' keystroke should be no more mentioned.

When texmf/source/ tree is missing, download listings from CTAN
and run latex listings.ins, then copy listings.sty as above.

As for tetex-2.0.2
* remove g-brief: it is not free software
it would be also wise to remove from texmf/texdoctk/texdoctk.dat:
g-brief;Alternative german letter style (g-brief);latex/g-brief/g-brief.dvi;
(2 occurences), thought German friends could be unhappy...

compatible for those provided by URW++. As those fonts are also GPL
licensed, anybody can feel free to adapt them to make "just work" as
you would like.

As concerned TL7, it is still:
This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.7x)
I think it is intentionally, so we have the same binaries for all (GUST,
TUG, DANTE, TUG2002, CSTUG CD TeX Live 7 releases).

It is not TeX problem but final output/device dependent. For TeX we use
only .tfm files.
If (for some reason) we have two different map files, we can always declare
them in config.ps and pdftex.cfg, respectively (p +mymap.map).

Many thanks, Thomas. Such a brave member of DANTE and GUST ;-)
I didn't expected that you're still on line (5:
tributions, like Debian, etc., so any help or hint
would be appreciated urgently.

bsr.map
uncomment that line to use Type1 version of standard CM fonts.

Bad advice. T1 means using EC font which we have only b
heavy to catch this bug?
What about just using psfonts.map for xdvi? Since the new bahaviour of xdvi
is not yet documented (I mean xdvi.cfg and special map files), the most
users are now somehow confused.
Kind regards,

I have only observed that latex2html (the same version!) is still mirrored
on CTAN everyday ;-}

will be made on-the-fly from _parameter_ file ecrm.mf).
You would better running latex file to make EC fonts automagically:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc} % switch to EC fonts
\begin{document}
some text \em{some more} {\bf etc.}
\end{document}

This matter *is related* to teTeX proper. ;-)
Somehow more then reading the documentation for graphicx.

It should be there... or you forgot to rebuild ls-R databases:

g/psfonts.map).
The last question: if pdf* do not use psfonts.map from the dvips/config/
(or it use it as the last resort) why it use the same file name?
Some time ago it used pdftex.map and it was enought clear...
I remember Thomas' work with updmap. Perhaps old ideas are not so bad...

1. Adapt Makefile from tipa package as on CTAN to the TDS conventions
used in teTeX, or
2. much better, make some new directories in yor texmf tree and copy the
files, e.g., as follows:
TETEX=/usr/share/texmf
