The built in upgrade and import functions (backstage) have not worked for me since 2.2.4 on FF3 thru FF3.5 I had some limited success in IE 6.0, but nothing consistent or reliable. Did you try using ImportTiddlersPlugin ? This is also available as a Instant Bookmarklet (no plugin install needed
