Agreed, we should tag releases - I think tagging was simply overlooked
when we moved to GitHub. I'll try and retrospectively tag the 2.6.2
release. I'll also try and ensure all releases are tagged in future.

to checkout to get a version 2.6.2

When pushed to github, it would be nice to have a "Tag: 2.6.3" that
makes it possible to switch back and forth, for testing.
