[time-nuts] ICS525 Battery Top Singnal Generator - Frequency Synthesizer-Translator, Test Transmitter, (Crystal Replacement?)

2006-05-04 Thread Brooke Clarke
Hi: Awhile ago there was some discussion about the ICS525 and I finally got a quote on their demo board it was $57 and 10 weeks. Well it's been less than 10 weeks and I've made my own, with more features than the stock version. There's been some delay getting all the stuff to do fine pitch S

Hi... Personally, i take great care about the 1PPS timemark output from my GPS receivers. First thing of all: My timemark line drives a single 74ACT04 or 40H69 inverter with short leads to get sure the line is as little loaded as possible without ringing. What happens after is far less stressing:

Hal, Certainly true. The UT+ is programmable so that you can disable the 1PPS altogether, disable it if TRAIM fails, or disable it if the receiver is not tracking at least one satellite. The default condition is for the 1PPS to be on all the time. Many systems require that the 1PPS stay on when s

Glenn, You can drive the LED from the DCD line, but along with a series resistor you need to be sure to include an extra steering diode in series with the LED. LED's have absolutely no sense of humor about being reverse biased above a volt or two. This might also affect your 1PPS pulse accuracy. I

Glenn, You "should" be alright. You're driving a lot of CAT5, but since the data is only at 9600 baud you should be OK. The 1PPS on the DCD line will be fine too. To blink an LED you just need to buffer the 1PPS signal coming out of the UT+ as it does not have enough drive capacity. Just about any

I am hoping someone can help me with some basic electronic questions about hooking up the Oncore UT+. I have a MAX233CPP two channel rs232 driver. I presume I can use the second channel to drive the 1pps on DCD line. Yes? I'll have a run of about 30-50' of CAT5, which *should* work. I should

TAPR is pleased to announce that the TADD-3 PPS distribution amplifier kit is now available. The TADD-3's primary use is to distribute 1 pulse-per-second signals such as those obtained from GPS timing receivers, but it can work with pulse signals up to at least 10MHz. The TADD-3 provides six l

Don Mimlitch, Your email is most interesting. My GPS76 receiver shows PRN#35, which was moved West from its position over the Atlantic, but no PRN#38 or #51. What are the positions of these two WAAS satellites. How are you monitoring if your 17HVS refuses acquisition? The reason I am intere
