Hi, Bruce... It was not about time/frequency standards, but about a
DSA602 :-). However... do you have also blocked the 80.0.0.0/8 range?
(because my two outgoing servers were blocked...). Both are from static
IPs and clean in SORBS :-).
Sorry again to the group for the noise.

Well, now that China has shot down one of its old satellites at
500 miles, the GPS navigation system is vulnerable.
Invulnerability is only temporary.

Why did they ever stop transmitting time on the GOES satellites (besides
age)? That was yet another backup source that used a different frequency
than GPS LORAN...

The beginning of Daylight Saving Time in 2007. Or the end of the world?
I work in an IT department and I'm finding that many of my colleagues
aren't concerned about this at all. There hasn't been much concern
about correcting the issue by patching systems and applications.
I know there is an issue with Java, and I also noticed
a new Micro$oft patch (KB928388: 2007 Time Zone update
for Windows XP) that has to do with time, but I am not
sure if it has to do with Daylight Saving Time.

The windows patch sets the date of the switch. It may take care of some

Looks like NMEA stuff.
I haven't found the NMEA specs on line. Looks like they (nmea.org) want BIG$

How good is Loran for timing? What's the right parameter for good?

Hi, Javier,
I'm blocking much of the 80.x ranges, but that's one that I can safely
punch holes in. What are the addresses for your servers?
Group folk: Please bear with us. We'll take it to E-mail as soon as we
get the communication issues sorted.
Thanks.

Actually, if you're using a network time server on your home LAN, and
sync'ing your workstations to it, you need only make sure that the
time server is running right. The computers will then take care of
themselves.
NTP uses UTC. (Roughly. There might be differences at the leap
