That gets complicated. My straw man would be to get a single transition per
word working first.

I made a somewhat similar deal on ebay. The ad was for a Radio Shack

which added a serial port for computer control. The only problem was
another bidder noticed the same thing. I got it, though at a premium

Question. why not replace them with LED's ?
I've replaced incandescent lamps in all sorts of equipment with LED's,
looks much nicer :)

After the discussion a few weeks ago, I started looking for a 5370. In
answer to the question about affordable 5370's, yes, there are sub $200
5370's out there. I just acquired one from eBay. Listed as 'won't power up'.
Close look at the pictures showed intact Agilent calibration stickers on the

Didier,
Thanks. I doubt Hittite will send me a couple of samples for "this one and
that one and oh that one", but you do raise a good point. I can always try! :)
With respect to fpga development boards, for this project I am all set! I am
currently tinkering with these two boards:

Arthur,
you mention that the 204 can select 60 KHz by thumbwheel. Do you have a
schematic of that synthesizer? I know they had a 60 KHz down converter I have
modified my unit and in my TI days modified quite a few for our cal labs
by setting the oscillator to 122 KHz dividing it by two and d
Fred,
Good luck on your project, it sounds exciting.
I have been able to get a couple of samples for free from Hitite. That was
several years ago (before the recession...)

There were quite a few variations of the Tracor 599 receivers. Actually the
599K had the synthesizer built into the 599-204 receiver module and had
a thumbwheel switch that you could use to to select 60.0Khz for WWVB
reception plus a srtipchart recorder to plot the phase difference.
