interested in what is being used in other departments. Would you also
indicate the number of majors and whether you are in a public or private
institution.

Just a little more on the Canadian educational system, from another
province (Nova Scotia). We have 13 years of primary and secondary
schooling and there are both 3- and 4-year undergraduate degree
programs. The former are usually designated 'general' degrees
while 4-year degrees are 'majors'
This discussion has been interesting, but I am still puzzled by these systems.
I recently received an e-mail from a former student who just finished a
"2:1 Psychology BA" from a University in England. Can anybody explain this
to me? (I've asked my student, but haven't heard a reply yet.)

through the debate over what to do with statistics. At our school,

is taught in the math department. My preference would be to do the
course in our department. Does anyone know what the national trends

I teach at Eureka College, which is also a small, liberal arts school.
Though we would like to teach statistics in our department, it is taught
out of the mathematics department, instead. My colleague does, however,
