Remember that we're dealing with at least three different types of verification here, none of which necessarily involve 'truth': 1. Scientific verification -- Loftus's specialty. Science has a set of procedures for supporting statements; concensus is a minor one. 2. Legal -- criminal.

A fellow psychologist reported that his neighbor's cat would jump up on a ledge an press the door bell so its owners would come and let it in. The cat was not taught to do this. I believe this may have occurred though observational learning across species. Ron Blue
