Besides what I wrote earlier, Nikki, that many "old friends" just drop
away because your condition makes them too aware of the instability of
human health and affairs, I would add the following advice, learned from
personal experience.
When anyone asks you, "How are you doing?", or, "How are you n
Nikki, just been reading Dalton's words and I totally agree with his response
to "how are you". I always say "fine". This is partly for the reason he

Hi All,
Have a question...how does the weather affect your TM? I have a friend
who is moving from Florida and isn't sure where she is going yet. She wants
to find a place where she is free from pain and where her husband can find
work.
I told her about Michigan, but don't know about oth
The Northeast is probably the best bet for jobs, and with its temperate
climate, OK w.r.t. pain, but it experiences lots of allergies, pressure

I agree completely. My family and close friends know that I will never be
cured and no longer ask those stupid questions. To people who don't have a
clue and ask how I am doing, I always say "I am doing the best I can", and
that usually shuts them up.

Dalton,
You make some very insightful observations. Like you, whenever I'm asked
how I'm doing, I usually just say I'm "plugging along" and don't
elaborate unless asked. You are so right about not dwelling on the
bad... the depression associated with TM is daunting enough and

Living in northern California is probably one of the most amiable

same for the big city, San Francisco), about 4 hours from the snow in

Susan, you can't win. When I was frustrated enough to let my feelings show
with a particular "friend" the patronising response was that "people change
when they're ill"..!!!
