The only thing not portable is your assumption that the "logs" directory exists at the same level as the tempdir. You may have to create that directory instead of just assuming it is there and using it. Otherwise, it is a decent solution, although there are still reasons why getRealPath("/")

If you want to store an actual Word file, you should do it as a BLOB (Binary Large OBject or Binary Logical OBject depending on your school of thought). I don't have any code examples but Java does have some tools for storing and retreiving BLOB's from an Oracle database.

Hello, Tomcat seems to create all the configuration files as I want them (with -jkconf) but apache doesn't seem to get them right. I can browse all my directories through Apache, I can browse WEB-INF without problem? When I click on a .jsp it goes through Tomcat as its supposed to. This Tomcat
