Merv,
I couldn’t agree more. As Merv says“It’s hard as heck to get EU to listen
on the skew path”.
Last year when the AU was fairly quiet, the direct EU polar path prevailed, but
in years past, the skew path was very common. This is also very true for the
deep Asia path (HS, 9M2 etc) from V

Did you try all the other direction beverages you have?
In the past 20 years of operating here in KH6 I find many times

hard as heck to tell EU to listen that direction. Same with signals

Interesting observations with dipoles and high angle of arrival at
sunrise/sunset. But from graphs, the beverage also has a fairly high
radiation angle.

At my place the two beverages I am using, 160m to NW, 120m to NE are only
good for decent signals.
The real weak ones I can only copy with my vertical which is an elevated GP
(top loaded tower) fed against a single radial at the 21m level.

Greetings,
I worked VK3HJ, VK3IO and VK2WF this AM with the first Q 1 minute past SR and
the last Q 35 minutes past SR. All three stations
were at least S5 and had very readable signals. Contrary with past SR
experience, my 400 foot beverage worked the best for RX. It
is very exciting to work
I worked OZ7YY and F5In, both with 569 reports both way. So, there was
activity.

I am sure you will get lots of input on this - but my experience makes me
think that this is due to the angle the signals are coming in from. I
often think openings near my sunrise have a higher angle than normal and
have found my beverages lose directivity and don't compete well with the TX

Lately when I worked a VK on 160m, the transmit antenna antenna heard
better than beverages. In other cases with the VKs, the beverages were
better but not by much. I am wondering why this is the case. Beverages make
a big difference to other directions.
The transmit antenna is 100ft shunt-fed to
There were several of us Europeans on calling CQ DX last night . . . but I
didn't hear anyone get any replies!
RBN reports from North America were quite good . . . so is it that
Propagation was just one way (as sometimes happens on 160) . . . or were
there just no NA stations on the band?
Well
Heard you work him - congrats! Couldn't hear Luke though...

VK2WF was 559 in between QSB into North Carolina this morning. I was unable to

An interesting result, I worked VK6LW/Kevin 1 hour before my sunset on 12
September, via LP, on 80 CW (an hour after his sunrise).N4NX also worked
