Hello Top Band Contesters.
Conditions here on East Coast of VK were terrible.
Mega lightning throughout the east coast. Very unseasonable weather for
this time of year.
Many of the possible Topband contesters (of which there are not many in
VK) were probably recovering from storm damage and
Conditions here in the western NC mountains appeared to be less than
good, but my overall contact numbers were better than last year. Didn't
have my receive antenna erected yet, but was able to hear three
Europeans calling and worked a few Caribbean stations. Nothing heard
from the Pacific and
Conditions poor here.
I managed VK3IO and 9 NA contacts plus ZF2VE.
The outstanding signal was K0DI who was still 579 45 mins after sunrise here.

Hi Roger,
We were happy to get you in the NA7TB log! K9DR had just taken over from me
at 0800Z and he had a nice little SR run of UK stations starting with you:
G3YRO, G4DJX, MM1R, G3T, GM4ZUK, G4FAL, GM4JYB, GI4EBS. There is a picture
of the 8-Circle on our NA7TB QRZ page. This is the antenna
Hi Hank - just checked the Log - yes it was NA7TB !
I'm amazed how I manage to do with my modest setup, compared to what a lot
of you guys in the US have for Top Band.
And I don't think anyone here in Britain has a 4-Square for 160m.

Hi Ed. Yes I since looked up where the various stations I worked were
located . . . and managed to work into Florida, Colorado, Texas and Arizona,
so was pretty pleased with that.
Unlike most 160m DXers I use a horizontal half-wave dipole, 50ft high.
I'll be on tonight for the Wednesday CW DX A
Thanks, Roger. Great results for a short amount of time!
What was your set-up?

Conditions were OK but not good to Europe over the weekend. The big signals
that are normally over S9 were only around S7.
Unfortunately I had to work until 3am on Saturday night/Sunday morning . . .
and as I had to be up at 8am I could only afford to come on 160 for about an
hour.

Well conditions were rather poor on Saturday night . . .
Also didn't hear many of the usual big signals on the band.

Managed to work everyone I heard, which was a total of 37 NA stations, so
was pretty happy with that. Worked down to Florida and the Caribbean, but

Yes, I'm quite sure Stan was joking!
On a serious note though, I was very pleased to work Stan last night. I was
just about to turn off the radio, as the widespread thunderstorms continued
to smash my receiver, when I saw Stan's CQ. Tuning to that frequency, I
quickly determined the callsign, and

The Stew Perry Contest should be the standard for log processing. Also,

Hi
I heard you Roger.
But did not distract you from your beloved CQ dx TEST :-))
Almost all of my NA correspondents are old acquaintances.
There are only two new ones - N4BAA, AA2EQ.
There was one QSO with the third zone - K7RL ( It has wonderful TX +

Yes, great to see conditions being good this weekend for the Contest. The
big NA signals were peaking S9 +10 to 15dB over here (which what they always

Bruce,
A modelling program would surely be
wonderful to work with. I can say though,
I called him twice, he heard me on my
first call and sent back 1J ?, I sent my

Sometimes someone will get lucky and get excellent 160 meter transmitting and
receiving the first try.
But most have to work at it with isolated directional receiving antenna (s),
and transmitting antenna(s)
de-tuned while receiving. A antenna modeling program also helps.

Yes indeed, whatever he's using is
working. He copied me with my 5W signal
from Connecticut, 10 miles from Rhode
Island. Just got the LOTW today.
That is some more than excellent copy on
their part for 160M.

Good conditions from Scandinavia to WC for the past four nights at OH0Z. Last
night was the best so far. BIG BIG signals from K7RL, N7DD and many others. I
managed to work about 40 NA stations although missed quite many who did not
hear me. Conditions are looking really promising for this season

Band was really good this morning and I managed to work about 30 NA

A2, K0, Solar Wind speed abt. 300km/s and proton density abt. 10 p/cm3
(quite high to my opinion).
Seems that we are going to have a very
