It means that you can play 24/96 hirez files in their native format.
Some people upsample 16/44.1 (CD)files to 24/96 b/c they think it
improves the sound; you can also download tracks produced in 24/96 from
sites like HDTRACKS.COM
Many think hirez files sound better.
The other SB units

In general one doesn't, although there are some music video's with
24/96 audio tracks. The same may be true for DVD-A (I don't have any of
these).
But a lot of people download 24/96 files from e.g. linn records,
gimmell, hdtracks, etc.
I'd love to have version of the Touch in my car and have access to most,
if not all, of my flac library. I wonder if we will ever see a version
adapted for in-car use? Or is this just too far removed from Logitech's
product development pipeline. In which case a DIY job may be
feasible?

One of the SB Touch beta testers (forum username: iPhone) has been using
the SBT in one of his vehicles. Says it works great. I don't think he
has posted any photos yet, but he has posted some information about it
in the forums, which you should be able to turn up via a search.

Some people do a standard 16/44.1 rip of a CD and then upconvert it.
Some artists (see the newer Neil Young discs) put their work out in
high res formats, and with a bit of work, you can extract high res files
from them.
Otherwise, they
I think I would have upgraded for the additional range it offers.

Thanks John. That's good to know, and covers the use case I'm most
interested in.
USB hubs are great when they work, but I have seen reports of issues
with certain devices and/or their associated software when the
connection is via a hub rather than being directly attached.

Interesting. It makes some sense to store the DB with the music files,
though at the expense of adding some complications.
Versioning of the library DB vs the installed SQL engine will need to
be managed. This could hit on server software upgrade or when moving
storage from one Touch (or

Ok. Thanks. I understand.
Not much music available at this clock rate and mostly classical, DVD,

We'll see what the future holds.

Still, others do needledrops (digitize) of their vinyl albums and save
them as higher resolution files for play back on systems capable of
reproducing them. This is why I bought my Transporter in the first
place.

To funny Jim! That is definitely a Touch in a car, iPhone Touch that
is.
Yes, I am using my Squeezebox Touch in my Expedition. I have a DC/DC
converter that supplies 5VDC at 4 amps to
I wasn't really trying to be funny. I think the Squeezebox Touch is a
very poor choice for such an application. There's now a 64GB iPod Touch

What about the fact that iPod interface is definitely not steering
wheel distance friendly?
I have a 32GB Touch mounted in my car... but the standard font size of
the Now playing screen has been thought for 5cm use, not further than
that.

Any chance the Touch will display Chumby widgets?

Does the Touch perform any internal switching similar to how the Duet
does with the 9v input? Or does it strictly only need 5v and does no
power switching to provide multi voltages?
