Have you waited a while or restarted squeezeboxserver ?
It fetches the fw from internet otherwise read the wiki on how to load
fw with an SD card (slot above the battery)

I tried this.. no success with Jive 7.4.1 - then I downloaded the Jive
7.5.0 version and copied it to the SD card. This time the update was
sucessful.

From the description this looks like a Baffle Step Correction (BSC)
circuit. This compensates for the decrease in bass response when putting
a woofer designed for a wide baffle into a narrow baffle.
Its not a crossover, its not tailoring the response between two
drivers, but tweaking the bass
