Same problem as the OP here. A Touch in the lounge, synced with a Boom
in the Kitchen, both connected by wifi, and the Touch often just goes
silent. It seemingly hasn't crashed, since I'm able to use its own
(soft) power button to turn it off and restart it. I also believe that

I just hooked up my new SB Touch. Nice! I am still orienting myself to
it and have successfully listened wirelessly to my my FLAC files on my
PC. To play my files wirelessly, is it required that the PC be ON?
That SB server be open? How about Internet radio?

Does anyone else get an error message from Shoutcast app can't parse
data? I can't see the shoutcast stream directory from my touch, sb3,
duet and boom. This is the same both when I connect to the server as
well as mysqueezebox.com.

Yes all of us do see other
The Touch is a solid piece of equipment. The interface is intuitive and
smooth. All the other SB players are good too; I've probably had the
most headache with a receiver that I took out of commission for the
Touch.
The server side of things is mature. Yesterday I built an i3 computer

I have to agree with GaryM. I have multiple Squeezebox Networks setup
(own more then one home and have a Beta Test Network setup) and don't
have a single issue with any of them. Yes, the Sonos is just plug them
in, but boy what a price is paid for that and some flexibility is
lost.

So I loaded Squeezebox Server on my PC. I DID have some music files on
it, and the Touch played them without any trouble.
I also downloaded itunes, since there was a little checkbox in the
Squeezebox Server setup that suggested it as a default.
NOW I'm downloading some sample FLAC files from

NOW I'm downloading some sample FLAC files from HDTracks.com. HDTracks
says itunes won't PLAY FLAC files, and suggests using something called
Uninstall iTunes and disable iTunes integration in Squeezebox Server.
You don't want it.
You don't need any other software to play FLAC files on the Squeezebox
using Squeezebox Server.
However, you will find a need from time to time to listen to FLAC files
on your PC, just to preview them.
I already I know that I can use Squeezeserver on my computer to control
my Touch.
But is there a way to use my laptop as a remote to control my Touch
when the Touch is using TinySB?
I can control my Touch by using SqueezeCommander on my Android phone.
I was wondering if there were a similar
You can use SqueezePlay on your laptop to control a Touch running

After more A/B of DacMagic vs. SB Touch DAC, I actually now prefer the
DacMagic. The sound from the SB DAC is more forward in the mid-range
and a little less balanced.

After a lot of tinkering with my music files, I have achieved what seems
to be perfect joy with my Touch, its internal TinySB server, its USB
drive, and my iPod -- all for the same music files. Thanks very much
to the postings by Jean on this forum, whose advice I sort of took.

+1 on that and, dare I admit, I've noticed that the DacMagic's
influence is particularly nice on
Will using either of the SPDIF coaxial or orange digital coaxial lead to
any difference in sound quality when listening to 24-bit files? Does
outputting through these bypass using the SB's DAC/processing?
If the digital outputs are being put into a modern receiver such as the
AVR-890
DAC= *D*igital To *A*nalog *C*onverter
Yes a digital output has nothing to do with the DAC.
If you want to keep it bitferfect you lock the squeezebox volume at
100%.
This can be done in the server settings.
Likevise functions like replaygain can also be turned off to be sure to
get bitperfect
