Thanks for the replies. The noise is still there even if its 100% volume or 0%. My plan is to get an amp soon and some decent speakers, just wanted to confirm if the headphone jack was of rather poor quality. But a temporary solution of a Y plug for my Sennheisers won't work? 3.5mm split to RCA

Yes the RCA is line level only they don't drive headphones you need a headphone amp . RCA should connect directly to the amps. But besides from using very high quality phones and high standards re sound-quality. Is not some in ear type of phones very very sensitive you amplify noise greatly. W

I do use headphones quite a bit, but I am saving up for a proper Hi-Fi system for both my SB and other entertainment devices. One of the reasons I got a SB other than network player was to get a good DAC (the RCA outputs). I presume a RCA Male to 3.5 female should work better than the headphone o
