Spotify on PC, Android and Iphone/IPad can cache tracks for offline
play. On my phone i can mark playlists for offline, switch Spotify to
offline mode and listen to the music for 30 days without a network
connection to Spotify.
This does not work for the official Squeezebox Spotify client.

With Server Settings to play AIFF files natively and not convert to
FLAC, 24/96 files do not play... only hiss.

Keep in mind that the Touch doesn't come with a software installation
disk for Squeezebox Server - it must be downloaded. So either he goes
to the library or an internet cafe and downloads the software to a
laptop, or else you or someone else can download it for him.
Also, the Touch will come

The status is that SOME DACs under some circumstances work straight out
of the box. Others have significant clicks and pops that can be
