Spotify on PC, Android and Iphone/IPad can cache tracks for offline play. On my phone i can mark playlists for offline, switch Spotify to offline mode and listen to the music for 30 days without a network connection to Spotify. This does not work for the official Squeezebox Spotify client.

Keep in mind that the Touch doesn't come with a software installation disk for Squeezebox Server - it must be downloaded. So either he goes to the library or an internet cafe and downloads the software to a laptop, or else you or someone else can download it for him. Also, the Touch will come
