If you go back to the server.prefs file, is your edit still there, or
was it overwritten? You should only edit server.prefs with the internal
server shut down. Then reboot the Touch or start the server.

Hi. Yup, rebooted.
The reason I'm tinkering with this is because I currently have my
compilations tagged with ALBUM ARTIST = Various Artists and no
COMPILATION tags. Pretty much none of my other albums have AA tags. I
have a bunch of singles w/o Album tags that I think SBS ends up grouping

In TinySBS I'm trying to change the name of 'Various Artists' to
'Various'. In server.prefs I see a line 'variousArtistsString: ~'. I
changed the '~' to 'Various', but in the Artists section 'Various' is
nowhere to be found. Something else I need to tinker with?
Thanks!

You will need to run a Squeezebox Server somewhere on your network and
then this should work but you can't run the server on the iPod itself.

I would be amazed if anyone in Logitech QA has ever attempted to set up
and operate a new Touch without a network or Internet connection.

A server for Squeezebox
It would have to be a place that does not require a username or
password, or ANY interaction. It has to be something that once you
connect you are on the internet. The Touch does not have a web browser
so it has no way to interact with a captive portal.

If you have a smartphone you might have a remote. Apple, at least,
offers a Squeezebox remote app for both the iPhone and iPad.

Quite often when I start Pandora the Album Art and Song Name are of some

No, you did not suggest that - Phil did: > rip them to disk (properly, one file

Guess I will have to figure out which aproach is most suitable for my
CD collection.

No, I wasn't suggesting breaking up the larger Flac files

I certainly agree. The CUE sheet was created by foobar2000.
Anyway, creating one FLAC file for each track (foobar2000 will easily
convert my "one FLAC per CD" files to "o
The cue sheet should not reference to a Somefile.wav if it is a
Somefile.flac that belongs to the cue.
(I maybe think some rippers create a cue like that or if you are
ripping to wav first then recode it to flac).
also the Touch runs linux so Somefile.flac is not the same as
somefile.flac this m

This is just off the top of my head - don't know if there are issues
that might prevent it working - but could you just take the Touch to a
wireless hot spot (local coffee shop, etc.) and use their wireless to
download the needed firmware update? It would probably need to be a

I get a similar problem with my Touch. When I change over from
mysqueezebox.com to my local server (SbS), the first time I try playing
a track it shows artwork but plays no music. What I do is power off

To tell the truth, I do not know why that happens. I also do not know
if that might be the cause of the problem.

Short or long press ? A short one just reboots it, a long press does a

if you skip a song or choose another album, do you get sound again then

Note the Touch can remeber artwork for a long time, is the local server

how are planning to configure your NAS or load files on to it without

You can configure the Touch for static network if you turn of the dhcp
server or conect it to something that does not have any.
using multiple dhcp on a network is never good.
