Hi Richard, have you tried the analog outs? Do you get sound out of
them? If you DO get sound from the analog outs and you say you can see
a red light coming out of the far end of the optical cable, then most
likely the receiver is not configured properly for the optical input.

When I try to use the digital output on my Squeezebox Touch it doesn't
give a sound. No response on the reciever, the optical fiber cable
gives a red light at the other end though.
What can I do to fix this problem?

Make sure the HDD has only a single partition (or that the music files
are on the first partition).
Also make sure the music files are not DRM protected.
Are you forcing a complete scan of the HDD's contents? Touch > USB >
Start SqueezeBox Server?

I just bought a USB-powered Verbatim 360 GB harddisk to use for my ALAC
files from iTunes... I connected it to the Squeezebox Touch and the
Touch could see it... But I cannot find any files! How so? I tried to
format the harddisk in both Mac Journaled and Fat32 but that didn't
help either
