Hi,
I have a Squeezebox Touch working stand-alone with a self-powered usb
HD.
From time to time when I turn it off, it loses its connection with the
local server and I have to restart the SB server and rescan everything
again.
Am I doing anything wrong? Is there a right way to turn it off?
Well, it depends on what you mean by off?
If just using the off button (IR remote or touch screen) this is really
just a Standby, not really off. Nor should this cause the Touch's
server to stop.
But if you are actually removing power for the Touch then yes this will
cause the Touch server
Another issue might be if your HD goes to sleep due to inactivity. This
may cause the Touch's server to think it is a new HD requiring a
rescan.
Is your HD going to sleep? Are there any drive utilities on that HD
that may be causing this?

Thanks Toby10 for your answer.
I ment standby when said off. I just want to stop the music and
come back later. Sometimes the server is disconnected.
Perhaps is the sleep mode on the HD...but isnt it good to let the HD
rest when not in use?
Im using a seagate expansion portable drive 500Gb
Hi,

Go to your www.MySqueezeBox.com account, go to App Gallery, see what is
there.
Usually the offered Apps are based on your location so if it is listed
it should be available to you. But this is probably not 100% accurate
all the time.

Also Erland has has written a patch/applet which can be installed
directly onto the Touch to force it to not scan. How this works, what
is required, etc... I have no idea.
But might be worth some reading to possibly stop the Touch rescanning
your HD.
Hi all,
I am considering buying a SB touch to add in with my current marantz
amp/cd combo player. I was wondering what the best way to run it with.
I don't particularly want to turn on my pc to use it and neither do I
want to get a NAS drive so either an external hard drive or a small

The best way to go is have a dedicated music server. While Logitech
added the feature to be standalone many here feel that was a poor idea.
The hardware really is not powerful enough to reliably run both the
server and client.
If you read the forums here you will see many people have issues

I've got a Touch that I've been using to stream 24/96 flac files of

Yeah, that value is just indicating it's being transcoded and doesn't
reflect the true bitrate. We should probably remove it, it causes a lot
of confusion.

Ik, I'll do more comparing but the difference seemed so significant that
I didn't pursue it any further. The difference seemed identical to the
difference I observed when listening to 24/96 files directly from my

Yeah, but I've gone to the work to create some cool custom wallpapers,
Iron Maiden, Van Halen ect. and I don't want a black background. And
the main thing is, it didn't do it before this update, so something
changed in how it maps album art and one would think it shouldn't be an
issue to go back
I would love to get a better DAC. I never realized that the Rega DAC
had date rate lights.. very nice!! That's the one thing I really
liked about the DacMagic.

Nah, the worst part about going computer with music is the ripping of

This was my first post here and I just want to add a thank you for the
quick response to my post.
The Touch is an excellent product at a great price. DAC's may come and
go but the Touch is here to stay :-)

Hi all,
One thing I realised I can do is whilst converting all my music to FLAC
is upsample it in SOX from 16/44 to 16/96 (except for the odd hdcd I
have I see no reason to use 24/96?). Would this be beneficial for the
SB's DAC or should I just leave it in original
