Your USB drive is probably formatted as NTFS. You will need to install a
full read-write NTFS driver for your mac such as NTFS-3G from Tuxera
(there used to be a free version but I don't see it anymore) or Paragon
NTFS.

the Squeezeplay devices (Touch, Controller, Receiver, and SqueezePlay
desktop) all require additional UDP ports for proper functioning, and I
think VPN is the only solution for that.

Can the touch be hacked to VPN directly (OpenVPN or PPTP or IPsec or any
other protocol) into my home network when I'm on the move? I have Linux,
Windows and Mac machines running at home, so I guess I have some
flexibility in which VPN server to run.

I think there is some licensing issue that
prevents a linux kernel with ZFS to be distributed, but I am sure that
