Just set up Touch for the first time. FLAC files are being fed via a
wired connection from a Synology DS212+ NAS, then into amp (analogue)

bright and and I want to know ways of making it less
Of course, you could always get a 2nd touch for the bedroom. :-)

I really wish I could read ext[234] on MacOS. It would simplify my

recommend ext3 for best performance, or FAT32 if you need
maximum compatibility.
Both ext4 and hfsplus modules have been in the kernel tree for a while
(2+ years). It's too bad that no kernel updates will be made to the
Touch.
What kernel is the touch running?

Are you talking about using a USB device on the touch's mini server?
ext4 would be a great choice for this. I'm not sure if it's supported
or not.

this behavior.

Yea, updating the ram to 1G is probably the easiest/best first step in
fixing the issues you're seeing.

Are you using wifi? What kind of computer is running your squeezebox
server. It sounds like there is something that is slowing down the
connection enough that it can't fill up the buffer fast enough.

Ahh, the Duo uses the old NV+ CPU which has been known to be
underpowered. It also only had 256MB of ram, which is basically the
minimum needed to run squeezebox server.

Laugh, large claims about the sound quality and switching PSU, but the
reviewer didn't even test the analog output.

The defaults are pretty optimal. There's not much to do when decoding
FLAC. It either works or it doesn't, just like opening a ZIP file.
Some people claim huge differences with the various volume controls,
but the defaults are sane.

Threads like this make me almost wish they had done something like they
did for USB. In USB there are USB 2.0 full-speed devices that are
actually USB 1.1 class full-bandwidth.
802.11n is a SUPERSET of 802.11g. They are fully compatible.
