[SlimDevices: Touch] SbT working fine with a 64GB SDXC card

2012-10-27 Thread arthurb
When I recently posted that I was going to run an Squeezebox Touch with some of the music files on an SD card, a couple of people posted that they would be interested in how I got on. In addition, JJZolx suggested that SDXC cards might be used instead of SDHC which have a 32GB limit. So, I got

I have now been playing with the USB memory stick for a couple of days, and I still have a smile on my face; the performance is perfectly adequate, and there have been no glitches. I always switch the SBT unit off when I have finished (I live in a rural area of England), but the start-up time,

I have chosen to use a USB-stick for size and reliability, and also because it is completely silent (I actually have a powered WD drive of 320GB laying around, but it is used as back-up for my laptop); I just prefer it. In addition, I want to keep the classical stuff separate from non-classical,

I had my SBT delivered about three weeks ago but, apart from checking the contents of the box, I did not touch it until a couple of days ago. However, it has proved completely simple to set up, with the only issue being clearing the USB-stick before use (I did this after reading several threads

Thanks JohnSwenson, that was exactly the sort of information I was looking for; although I assume that your estimates were based on USB disks, I would not expect much worse with, say, a SanDisk Ultra 64GB stick, so it doesn't seem to be a problem. Do you, or does anyone else (garym?) know how

[SlimDevices: Touch] Performance expectations with a USB Stick and FLAC

Hello, I am thinking of getting a Touch and using it with a 64GB memory stick, at least initially, using FLAC encoded files exclusively. Performance with the local TinySB may be a problem though; can anyone advise me on what sort of start-up/scan times I might see with, say, 50GB-odd of music in
