Exactly. That the Touch -"will only talk to devices than can install and
run a copy of Squeeze Box Server"- is a basic characteristic of all
Squeezeboxes. Many NASs are 'too fussy' -- or more precisely, too
closed and/or too underpowered -- to run SBS. These NASs may be fine
for their intended use

To be clear, the problem is the NAS, not the player.
If you put the SBS server program on an equally under powered (low
spec) computer (slow CPU and low memory) you will likely suffer the
same issues the under powered NAS d
