Another speed/reliability tip for the Touch's USB performance is to have
the Touch's SBS server ignore any/all non music files.
You can do this in one of two ways:
1. Do use a dual partition, music on P1, all others files on P2.
Touch will only see P1.
2. Rename the top level folder(s) contain

I've used an iOmega Prestige drive with no issues.
