A couple of things here, as was mentioned computers use a random
generator which starts from a "seed". If the seed is EXACTLY the same
you will get the same sequence, if the seed is even slightly different
you will get a very different sequence. I don't know what seed is used
in SBS, as has been m
I've noticed that if I start randon songs, then scroll back and forth to
start another set of random songs, there is less chance of the repeats
appearing.
If I do this several times, I seem to get a completely fresh playlist
and even some songs in the playlist from the depths of my library that

Lovejoy, many thanks. That makes a lot of sense and confirms for me
that it's not really random, just sort of! I use Random Mix from
scratch most evenings and nearly every time I will get two songs from
the same album selected in the first ten choices. I'm sure Logitech

Random playback is one of those things that is incredibly difficult to
do in software. Computers by their nature are not random, have no
concept of random and the question of how to program a good random
algorithm is one that has been going on for years and there's still not
a good answer to this.
I have the same issue.
I asked the question here as well but apparently none seams to have
that as a burning issue... ;-)

I use My Music> Random Mix> Song Mix and I'm setup using Tiny SBS on an
external hard drive. I start afresh each evening. The only genre I
have selected is Rock. Same thing happened last night. Two of the

Depending on what you mean with "random". Do you just hit play and then
the random or shuffle button, or do you select the random play thru the
menu with song selected? The reason it might be different, if you just
hit play it will try to add all songs to the playlist on SBS and
depending on wha
Can anyone shed light on what kind of algorithm the Touch uses when
Random Mix (Songs) is chosen? I've started using this feature recently
and really enjoy the surprises it throws up, but it does seem to be
including the same things in the playlist night after night. I
understand that if I've go
