Signed up a couple of days ago. Took most of the day to scan, match and
upload and so far it's been pretty good. I only have one album that's
inelagable due to some tracks being 56k. I've also gone through and
upgraded all 128k tracks to 256k :) no good for my SB's as I use a
separate library of F
I did think it would be an interesting experiment to make some files
named correctly, with the correct tags, but just silent and see if they
matched. ITune match lets you upgrade all your files to 256K AACs if you
ripped them at a lower encoding rate so you could then get the real
files down. Tota

Absolutely! Why go to all the hassle of uploading, or matching your
stuff with some 3rd party cloud. Slimserver had the capability for
ages - I'm sure many here have been streaming their own music from
their own server for a long time wi

It may well take tags into account a bit, but it also uses audio finger
printing to identify the tracks, the same way Shazam and si

I didn't see that Google Music does matching, so far you could only
upload and now you can directly add stuff from their store.

The just announced Google Music is meant to host 20K songs, be FOC and
stream. But as I am not in the US I can try neither iTunes Match or
Google Music.
Anyone tried either service yet? Both say they will match your music
and you won't have to upload tracks that are in their database. Can

It used to be Lala.com, but Apple bought and buried it to make iCloud.
Well, there is Google and Amazon, but you have to upload instead of
matching. MP3tu

Right... it doesn't stream anything, just allows you to match up what
music you own so you can download it to other iThings. So you download
to iTunes which integrates with Logitech server and there you go.
You really think Apple is going to open it up to other devices? I doubt
it. Even if they
First things first: has Apple released an API that would enable other
companies' products to connect to iTunes Match?

iTunes Match is a cloud-based storage service sync'd to iTunes users'
local devices. You'll be able to store 25,000 songs, both purchased and
(ahem) otherwise acquired.

Any thoughts about connecting the SBT to iTunes Match as a music source,
and thus doing an end-run around USB drives and so on?
