im going mad with my squeezebox touch my wife got me for crimbo
i get this "local music service has stopped" error all the time and its
basicly unuseable.
im usding a usb or sd with mp3's on and have linked in my boom that has
worked fine to be surved form the touch. i have tried updateing firmw
has a known cause and solution for this ever been found? I loved my SB
system and have tried a few alternatives and keep coming back to "i
don't want sonos" and "why is there not a good reasonable alternative?"
- i just want a simple reliable system with streaming support from one
of the big play

why do you want older firmware? I don't think your problem is a
firmware problem. But if you really want different firmware, you just
connect your TOUCH to a PC running an older version of LMS/SbS and the

i have tried a 32gb sd card with just mp3's on, a 4gb usb stick and 2
external hdd both with own supply

I am also having the same problem. TinyLMS will crash even when the
unit is not playing any music.

I may be wrong but doing a search the Toshiba Centrino is a laptop not
an external drive. Please confirm what you are using .

I used to have this problem on an almost daily basis when using the
internal LMS. I'd come home from an evening out and wanted to relax
listening to music and see the dreaded message, wait for a rescan to the
point I just switched it off and went to bed.

Yes. No problem running LMS from my Windows XP machine; am using it
now while listening to internet radio while working on the computer. I
did verify the the Touch works conne
There is a some type of problem interacting with the HD. After giving
up on the scan, I dismounted the HD, with an OK to remove USB device,
and took it to my windows machine. CHDSK reported errors.

I agree, any differences should be very subtle. The TOUCH re
touch also has 24/96 and native AAC ( and possibly also alac )

only mp3 files and album art and im still getting local music stopped
