With recent versions of webbrowser-app (starting from
0.23+15.10.20150827.3-0ubuntu1), there are now contextual actions to
save an image or a file. On mobile devices this feeds the URL to the
download manager, which handles the actual download.
On desktop, the ubuntu
Right, the desktop use case is not very well handled: since the ubuntu-
download-manager is not available in main, the browser cannot depend on
it, and as a consequence the download is delegated to the default
browser. I filed bug #1491279 to track this issue.

I've never had GPS location work without the HERE functions enabled. As
soon as I disable it (I have to restart for a change to take effect) I
get *no* location info whatsoever. (I have waited for weeks to get a GPS
lock, to no avail.)

I still disagree that it's "undefined behaviour" -- if we have used the
actual init.d script so far to start e. g. mysql under upstart, then
this does not sound either racy nor undefined; it surely isn't what we
*intended* to do, though?

It seems that turning off wlan0 power management can help. I'm
using the following command as a temporary workaround:
sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off
As restoring the kernel/driver does not fix the issue, could the

UX decision about what happens when you click on the indicators during

Just to update, I removed the "screen->focusDefaultWindow ();" line and
recompiled compiz and I've been using it for more than a month and this
solved the problem and I could not observe any side effect. So I think
this code could probably be removed at least when using unity.

Sorry, when I say "I turn off and on wifi in the hardware" I mean I do
it with Fn+F3 on my laptop. I'm not sure how much it is really

I have also observed this. And it was not after suspending and resuming.
I hadn't suspended/resumed since the previous boot which was just a few
minutes before.
It is NOT systematic.
Usually, when I turn off and on wifi in the hardware as a workaround for bug
#1491612, it does force a rescan.
This string actually comes from ubuntu-settings-components, and is properly
wrapped around with i18n.tr() tags.
The problem is that the package itself doesn't seem to be generating the
potfile anywhere.

Attached is a patch to make firmware-b43legacy-installer a dummy
package. The patch also includes and improves all the other patches
I've listed.
The only problem I've found is due to the debconf value b43-fwcutter
/install-unconditional and if this is true it now installs both lots of
firmware.
