I've managed to fix partially the problem or at least I can narrow it
down. So , if I override all my other audio lines via hdajackretask
module and only enable the headphone one, the sound is perfect. What

I managed to solve my issue: I found a passive DisplayPort to HDMI
adapter that works (the colors on the TV are as expected).
But I still think that there is a software issue, or an issue that ca be
solved with software, since with the exact same hardware the colors are
fine with certain software.
Issue definitely persists on 4.11/upstream. I came across an interesting
output in dmesg which may explain why bluetooth works while the WiFi
doesn't:

The difference here is a supported machine is up to date, even if it
only has the minimum packages installed.

incorrect. I think the decision to choose base-files should be

Stephan, it is response time dependent - if your campus has a slow DNS
answer then the others e.g. on your normal uplink will be preferred.
