I found the issue. The CTKI is an idiot who didn't realize System Volume
is per device, and not global. Only took me 2 days to find out.
I don't think I can close the issue myself, please close it before it
wastes somebody's time.

The steelseries Arctis 5 headset is a USB device with 2 audio outputs: Game and
Chat.
In the system sound settings, I can clearly see 2 audio devices:
"steelseries-arctis-output-game-common", and
"steelseries-arctis-output-chat-common".
Unfortunately, no sound comes out of
I added "acpi=force" to my grub boot, no success.
I then rolled back my graphics driver from Nvidia prioprietary 440 to
Nvidia proprietary 390, and the issue is gone.
I don't really understand how the graphics driver is involved in the
shutdown process, and if Nvidia is to blame here. I'll let mo

After issuing a shutdown (either from GUI, shutdown command or systemctl
poweroff command), the system will shutdown, and start again after a
couple seconds.
