My guess it that it is video driver / hardware dependent, but I wasn't
able to exactly pinpoint where the issue is. I couldn't find any
documentation as to which device is the correct one to use, but
/dev/tty0 seems to be used by larger projects (logind, GDM) and thus is
probably better tested.
Is this the resolution of the greeter or the session?

I'm really struggling to find the correct behaviour here. What I know:
- man utmp shows:
charut_line[UT_LINESIZE]; /* Device name of tty - "/dev/" */
- GDM 2.20 only put the tty into this field
- GDM git does:
/*
* Set ut_line to the device name associated with this display
Note that LightDM actually handles the VNC connections - so this would
never work. Closing this assuming this is what you expected.

If you want multiple connections to an existing session using LightDM,
then you need to run a VNC server inside that sesion (e.g. Vino).

When you run Xvnc on its own, it allows n clients to connect to it. When
LightDM runs it, it listens on the VNC port, and spawns an Xvnc for each
connection (using the -inetd flag). In this way, there is only one
connection per Xvnc instance. So the connections are unshareable.

gnome-session (3.20.2-1ubuntu6) yakkety; urgency=medium

Sorry, didn't notice this bug go past. I can't think of anything that
would have changed in LightDM and the log isn't showing anything going
wrong. I was going to suggest you try downgrading LightDM but you've
done that. My best guess is the session / light-locker haven't realised

Note you can test changes like this by running:
$ sudoedit /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/lightdm
$ sudo systemctl reload apparmor.service

Looking at your seat0-greeter.log seems to show something might be going
wrong with unity-settings-daemon / your X server:
(unity-settings-daemon:2377): Gdk-WARNING **: unity-settings-daemon:
Fatal IO error 11 (Resurssi ei tilapäisesti ole käytettävissä) on X
