Hi there! So [http://zareason.com/shop/Alto-3880.html this machine].
That intel wireless card will not work with free software (while the driver
might be free, the firmware isn't). On the other hand, you can only get 3D
with intel video cards, so you could ask them if they could swap the
Just out of curiosity where is that automute? I couldn't find it.
Did you have a look at the laptops available at ThinkPenguin? All of their
hardware is 100% supported by free software and you should be able to get a
similarly spec'ed laptop from them.
Watching youtube videos does not require non-free software, aka Adobe Flash,
anymore. You can watch most of them through html5, which looks just the same
as Flash. Some videos don't work with the html5 yet and they can be watched
using several plugins for abrowser (Trisquels version of
Right! But forget vimeo and other streaming web site. There is only youtube
that works with free software. But i feel ok with this. I just don't visite
web sites that doen't support free format. I encourage you to give a try to
Gnu/Linux Trisquel's way of life and to be part of the solution!
VRMS uses the Debian definitions of free software, not FSFs, so it's
relatively useless for now. But how hard can it be to patch it, to comply to
Trisquels philosophy? In concept VRMS is a funny little program, especially
if combined with that one command that outputs a cow saying something.
Flashvideoreplacer supports a number of websites. See the compatibility page

Vimeo works perfect on Midori Web browser.
Hi lembas,
that was on PartedMagic, a non-free distro which I use once a week because of
the damn Adobe Flash Player® in which I got my lessons.
This option doesn't appear on Trisquel's LiveCD. My notebook's sound chip is
an Intel Cantiga HDMI, and I don't know if there is 100% Free
Thanks for the tips! I am going to look to answer these few questions:
Is FVR is Libre?
How can Midori can read on Vimeo sonce there is no html5?
Ha! Half the sites you listed are for porn. Now we know where our priorities
lie ;-)
Its a shame that OSX gets all the love for VLC's interface. Tell me again how
the button placement and progress bar cannot be duplicated for Linux by
default?
I can certainly write 'vrms' for Trisquel. Here is a Shell implementation:
echo No non-free or contrib packages installed! rms would be proud.
100% free distributions do not propose any non-free application. Why would we
need 'vrms'? If someone installs proprietary software on top of
Midori and Epiphany can both watch flash content via the Totem plugin by
using the Linterna Magica greasemonkey script. Linterna Magica also works
with Mozilla based browsers and can also be used with Mozilla browsers with
GNOME MPlayer via the Gecko Media Player plugin (which can be
Not necessarily (joke incoming). I was watching a talk by Jacob Appelbaum
(security researcher; tor dev). He was kidding that oneday he said I look
forward to the day that the only binary blob on any of my systems is the
rootkit that the government has installed.
Let me add up: not only their laptops are guaranteed to perfectly work with
Trisquel GNU/Linux (which can be pre-installed if you wish) but, by buying it
from http://libre.thinkpenguin.com (notice the libre), the Trisquel project
will be donated 25% of the profits ThinkPenguin makes on your
FlashVideoReplacer is free software. It is licensed under the GNU GPLv3 (see
for instance the bottom of this page).
I've been using Trisquel for months and i am happy with it overall but
one thing that has been troublesome is a display issue.
The problem is that parts of the screen show little pieces of screen
from other workspaces or are repeated from further up the screen.
It is not there all the time
Heya Sphynx
Firstly, I have to apologize for having
a bad English. I'm doing my best.
It's not worse than mine :)
In an ideal world we would have free and open implementations for hardware
with open interface specifications and not propritary / non-free stuff
included in the device. But we
