I don't believe it is necessary to pay anybody to get your phone unlocked.
Just calling up the provider after the phone is beyond the contract period is
sufficient. They will then provide a code at no cost to you.

Hi,
I have reports that the AMD64 version of the Trisquel pre-release is not
available. Furthermore, Orca, on the 32-bit version will not speak when user
tries booting on an AMD cpu. Can anyone with an AMD 8K confirm this? I do not
have one available.
Cheers,
Dave H.

I tried searching through my bookmarks to see if I kept the link I read, but
no luck. But I did find another example with an internet search:

The copyright holder doesn't have to distribute the work under the terms of
the license because he/she/it already has complete permission to distribute
it in any way he/she/it wants under copyright.

Err.. that's doesn't make sense as I understand the GPL; it requires the
source to be made available and for it to be in
Also, I have heard of companies releasing binary firmwares under the GPL, but
not the source. In such a case people can hack on the binary but that is
difficult. The company still has power over its users.
It's possible that this is not the case in this situation though.
:)
I don't think he was trying to attack you. As you said yourself the company
was unclear and he was trying to help by correcting the wrong information
which was provided.
I thought there were some browser compatibility problems with HTML5, namely
Internet Explorer. If that's the case that would easily keep sites from using
it. Although that is an area that changes rapidly and I haven't been good
about keeping up with the changes.

There seems to be some toshiba related packages in the repo too, dunno if
those are related to this.
Oh yes, I've done some searching around and seems people have reported
similar things with their Satellites, 2 fixes were apprently to add
toshiba_acpi to /etc/modules and removing network-manager.
Unfortunately, neither worked.

True- I have to say thought installing multiple operating systems can be a
hassle/problem though with or without resizing. Though one less hassle is
always a good thing.
You don't need to resize your partitions often for this to become a problem.
If you /ever/ have to resize your partitions down the road, not being able to
do it is a hassle. Say, for example, you want to install another GNU/Linux
distro, like Parabola, alongside Trisquel. If all remaining spa

Do you people really resize you're file systems that often so that something

While the "driver" is free that alone doesn't make the device work. The real
work is done by proprietary software that the driver loads.
So the "free driver" is, really, just a sham but they still get to proclaim
to the world that they have "free drivers" because that's technically true

If XFS continues to be used, I would argue to, if the space is available, put
in a huge excess of space for /, like 32 GB. Though I tend to agree that ext4
would be a better choice despite performance benefits of XFS.

I really don't think "permissive" has either a positive or a negative
connotation. It's a relinquishment of control, and that can be a good or bad
thing depending on the circumstances. Regardless of copyleft licenses such as
the GPL being a good thing, they don't relinquish control and are ce
I guess 16 GB for the root partition (if the device has at least twice this
size) would indeed avoid future "disk full" problems.

The word "permissive" definitely has positive connotations, though. If
something is described as permissive, it's usually taken to be a good thing.
