I'm required to have a mobile phone, so I just leave the battery out almost
all of the time (for privacy reasons). I check for messages every few days
while I'm at home.
But maybe my "solution" isn't goo

According to this[1] it sounds like it requires non-free firmware. I haven't
found anything on drivers yet, but I believe that's where a lot of their work
is.
Apparently the Galaxy Nexus has a better desi
There is Replicant which is free software and runs on some phones. I think
that it still depends on some non-free components such as the wifi driver. I
think it is the only libre phone OS at this time.

Hi all,
Sorry for the off-topic, but I have taken a job where I will likely be
essentially required to get a smartphone. I have two concerns about this:
1) Don't know of any good libre OS options
2) Don't know of any good options that respect my privacy
I suspect that if I could solve #1,
We will have something.
I'd like to have a 5ghz USB adapter with external antennas and AR9271.
Unfortunately it is only possible to do external antennas with 2.4ghz at the
moment and the AR9271. Technically though this can all be done with AR9271.
I was thinking this too.
Quite a bit of work to go figure it out though. But more people need to start
accepting it if its ever going to be worthwhile.
I'd like to support it with ThinkPenguin... but thats a project for another
week.
Have you been on the web lately? 99% of the web doesn't validate.
If anybody was holding off on donating to the Sonar Project its down to 30

The project has reach near half its funding goal of just $20,000 USD.
Consider a donation and make this project a reality.
It is actually really simple. Take for instance this page from ubuntu help:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Privoxy
This will give you the default configuration. You can see a complete list of
rules with explanation at /etc/privoxy/default.action (do not edit that
file), and you add your
Neat, but looks complex to set up. Also, without subscribable lists like
Adblock Plus has, it won't be anywhere near as effective and accurate.
Finally, I'm not convinced that this is a full answer, mostly because I don't
really understand it.
I've personally now taken to using Adblock and
Hello,
I'm running Trisquel 6.0 32bit with Gnome and discovered a minor issue here:
Trisquel Start Icon> System Settings> Appearance:
The option to have the deskop appearance change throughout the day doesn't
seem to work. I've tested it out for a while now and it never changes. I

[UPDATE]
Just updated Trisquel 6.0 yesterday and System Monitor is now visible by
default in Gnome :-)
Trisquel Start Icon>System Settings>System Monitor
Awesome!
Bumping this today to promote Privoxy [ http://www.privoxy.org/ ] (it's in
the repos)
This will replace most of your addons if you configure it right, and speed up
page loading.
Will there be a version with antenna?
Like this:
https://dx.com/p/comfast-cf-wu150n-802-11b-g-n-usb-wireless-receiving-network-adapter-169303.
It is actually very trivial at this point to worry if this older layout
doesn't pass the validator when the actual OS we are waiting for (Trisquel 6)
keeps getting pushed back.
Wait until that comes out first before bugging Ruben.

I think this is a very valid concern. Please go ahead and file, the
