I found a post that said there were some files under ~/.gnome2/, but I don't see any hidden folders in my home folder. The first time I logged in I was fine, the second time, I am having the same problem now, too. Is there anybody else who might know how to fix this? Thanks in advance :)

I had the same problem when burning the live iso in a CD. To log in in the live system choose "other", username trisquel and no password. Not sure about your second problem. That doesn't happen here.

The Trisquel kernel will not load the free firmware. It is blacklisted. Yours is working because it is the non-free kernel. Though it would work the same once the blacklisting is removed on the free kernel. The driver code in the kernel is free already.

One mirror decided to stop hosting Trisquel. Maybe you're on it? Go to system > software sources and make sure download from: is not rediris.es. If that's not it, what mirror are you using?
