Because vrms makes no sense, and even less in a free distribution.

Why isn't vrms, which is a GNU GPL software, available in the repo's of
Trisquel 6?

The problem is not the license but the lack of source code, there is only a
binary (well hex to be exact) blob.
Many Debian users don't give a hoot about freedom.
What would you like to change about it? Maybe people can make suggestions
based on the features you're looking for.
I use a program called Synapse to launch applications. You might like it
more than the start menu:

Does repository ppa:oibaf contain only libre software? ¿How was it verified?
Does anyone know how to get rid of the flickering screen every time you
maximize a window or open an application? Just curious, I searched and can't
find. Thanks!
I tried that and it still didn't work.
I had installed gNewSense 3.0 beta earlier today & posted onto this forum. I
don't know where the post went, it never posted apparently through Iceweasel
3.6.15 which comes with gNewSense 3.0 beta. I just installed Trisquel 6.0
and it's blazing fast & updated and very nice! I want 100% libr

Once 3.0 is released it *sounds* like they might start working on the
next version rather than working on backports. Which makes more sense,
since Squeeze will probably be EOL in early 2014.
Andrew.
Well, the unfortunate fix is to install the FOSS driver
(xserver-xorg-video-radeon) and the nonfree firmware. I got this information
from the Debian IRC. They don't seem to be concerned that the firmware is not
free.
For whatever reason, the AMD firmware is in the blobs section of the Linux
The driver is xserver-xorg-video-radeon. Not sure about the firmware.
Damn, I forgot it.
I just installed gNewSense 3.0 beta on my computer. Things are going smoothly
BUT I cannot install IceCat without going through a lot of difficulty (see
the IceCat page & you'll see what I mean at the end of the procedure). I've
been using GNU/Linux since 2006 (e.g., Ubuntu, others) but Cano
Can you confirm this, Chris?
I solved in another way.
The cause of the crash was a picture "corrupt" in the folder. Discard the
picture everything is back to work.
Many thanks to all :-)

Go read up on YaCy, although I'm sure that's not the only way to do it.
You can download videos from Youtube with different programs.
I live in Toronto. It's a big city; I think that there should be groups
already organized here. I will try and find out on the Internet, and by
asking at university faculty offices here.
If anyone knows of a group in Toronto, could you let me know? I'm also open
to starting something, if
An extra $20 a month would not be considered "next to free" for a lot of
people.
And besides, whether or not software is free (as in freedom) has nothing to
do with its price. Gosupportnow is clearly proprietary software, which we do
not recommend or support on this forum.
They don't work for me.

Vimeo videos should work in any browser that supports H.264 via HTML5 such as

I have a Radeon 9550 that worked fine with Trisquel 4.0 and Ubuntu 12.04 out
of the box, but now its blacklisted in 6? Radeon is also deblobbled from the
kernels as well.
I thought there were free drivers/firmware for these ATI cards. If there is,
how can I restore them?
I don't watch a lot of TV, and when I go to movies it's usually because
someone else wanted to take me. In general I prefer the interactivity of the
Internet and computing.
I should note that anyone can download videos from Vimeo (unlike YouTube)
using downloadvimeo.com. (This is the only w

You can try using gosupportnow remote support software. It is not totally
free, however, just costs you $19.95 / month, which is next to free.
Usually I prefer BDs or DVDs from various sources (video rental, bought used,
public libraries, friends) which I decrypt and store on my HTPC. Encrypted
movies which are stored on fragile optical discs are not acceptable. I expect
some BDs to die in the next 10-15 years. The optical layer is
I use Miro with some free sources and of course, http://www.archive.org and
its RSS channels.
Mainly sci-fi, noir and comedy movies.
Please post this instructions here, perhaps we can help you understand them.
