I'm guessing when people ask perfermonace they mean some of the following
things:
Can it play back HD/full HD movies smoothly?
Can it play free software games smoothly (which ones)?
How fast is it for other tasks and is it suitable at all (e.g. how fast does
it encode VP8/VP9 video, can it
Lol ok I got confused since I recommended sharelatex as well in another post.
Anyway, Pitivi uses the Lgpl which is a perfectly free software licence.
So just replace Sharelatex with Pitivi in my post and agpl with lgpl
and everything is still correct.
I couldn't find an issue for that, so I created one, which can be found here:

Thank you, Mzee!
You are welcome. :-)
If it works on the vanilla Linux but not on the same version of Linux-libre,
then it probably requires a blob. The policy of this community is to never
help anyone install proprietary software (because that is not helping).
I use mine for everything. Most of my use of a computer is text editing,
email, web browsing and the like, but I also watch videos and compile source
code, etc.
I never have any performance issues.
Mine is an X60s with the Core Duo L2400 processor, running Trisquel 6 with
Gnome 3 desktop.
According to the logs, your display is managed by the basic vesa driver,
not the radeon one:

[19.223] (II) [KMS] drm report modesetting isn't supported.
[19.223] (II) GPU only supported with KMS, using vesa instead.

Would you prefer another examples? Abrowser opens ports...
What about Totem and zeitgeist?
There's no bug in openssh server.
They don't tend to use it because they don't know such a things. They could
not easily install it because they do not know such a things. Learning curve.
I'm running 3.2.0 generic.
Guys, I'm sorry about not remaining my Ps and Qs but I have no time to write
to everyone everything. I know it looks kinda roughly from me but I assure
you I'm not trying to answer that way.
This is the original two-year-old kernel. You did not do any update. Try to
install the package linux-generic-lts-saucy from the Synaptic package
manager (as I suggested first), reboot and see if it did the job.
First of all let me tell you, you have got a great blog about Website design
London .I am interested in looking for more of such topics and would like to
have further information. Hope to see the next blog soon.
WordPress is pretty nice.
(use wordpress.org, not wordpress.com)
The gluglug sites runs on it.
MrMaui76, I'm antiesnob not antisnob (that's the English translation
actually). I just wanted you to noticed that.
I ain't taking this as personal. Don't worry.
When I was taking about option I was just saying that Trisquel developers
have taken that option.

Hi acriticalcookie,
On my old system, I couldn't get 3D acceleration but a newer kernel allowed
native resolution of the display.
Try updating your kernel: http://jxself.org/linux-libre
Follow the instructions on that page to install the latest version.
This may or may not solve your issue,
I installed the new kernel and it still didn't fix it. I just found out I was
using Synaptic wrong.
Worth a look.

This is literally new.

Clearly the reason that people's computers might not be compatible with ODF
is that Microsoft made it that way.
What do you expect? This will harm them.
I also just installed the latest Linux Libre kernel. Didn't fix a damn thing.

H-node has nothing on this, but this user had a problem when upgrading from
Trisquel 5 to 5.5:
http://trisquel.info/en/forum/graphics-problems-after-upgrade-55
In that thread, the workaround is found: use vesa driver.
Setting vesa should be considered a last resort.
What's the storage, RAM and CPU of yours?
The best is Core Duo T2400 (X60), L2300 or L2400 (X60s) with 3GB RAM and 120
GB SSD - probably this increase the performance.
Maybe Magic Banana is right or maybe i didnt write the sccript well since i
dont know which urls i should use.
None of those are servers, unlike ssh. And if you want to remove abrowser,
totem or zeitgeist, feel free to start another thread.
And it's absolutely ridiculous to say there's no bug. No such piece of
software without bugs. Here are the KNOWN bugs for openssh
The patches are at [0]. They are free (no blobs inside, they modify
GPL2-licensed files with the original patches having Signed-off-by).
The script included in that repo uses blobbed kernel sources. A proper
solution would be to apply the patches to Linux-libre kernel sources and
build it,
The problem with OOXML is that Microsoft shoehorned the format in Office 2007
as Traditional OOXML, meaning that it had a reliance on Microsoft's programs
and was a mess. Microsoft wasn't even complete with the specification and
doesn't follow the ISO standards, which is known as Strict
After installing libftdi1 on my system, I have to copy coreboot.rom in the
flashrom directory .
Finally with the following command line,
sudo ./flashrom -p internal -w coreboot.rom -c MX25L1605D/MX25L1608D
flashes my firmware flawlessly .

Continue to do a good job
Simply having it installed by default and without a notice does not make the
user aware of it. She thinks no server is running and chooses a short
password for convenience. She is screwed.
Notice that I use SSH on a daily basis. Yet, I see no point in installing an
SSH server by default
His system already is using the vesa driver, hence the low resolution.

I tried but I couldn't. I think that page was created using Drupal. Your help
is welcome. Thanks!
Did you do a complete shutdown and reboot after installing the kernel? What
do you get now when you enter uname -r? It's just possible that GRUB isn't
using the new kernel that you just installed.
I know this is frustrating, but it's worth it when you finally get high
resolution - it makes

Yes, I'm running the latest version of the Linux Libre kernel. I ran uname
-r. I rebooted 2-3 times just to make sure.
Wow! It works wonders! Thank you so much again ;)
For me, I can't sense a delay in reaction. So it's fast enough for anything I
do. But I don't do gaming apart from a few simple 2D, and video processing is
reserved for something more powerful.
Of course, but now I'm starting like everybody else: think of the children!
Removing trisquel sounds pretty spectacular. Those two metapackages should
not have such dependencies. Or at least trisquel-basic.
That is a far better and more reasonable argument than the one published
above[1].

Hurray!
Thank you. It looks great!
Another sign: having no idea which spam was discussed.
I noticed Snowden had an EFF sticker on his laptop at some interview. Does
that mean EFF makes laptops or only rebrands them as free laptops?
Elodie, what is your damn problem?
I promoted a free software project which is trying to make money. You come
along, making many false claims, insulting my post as spam, obviously without
any knowledge about any licence you've been talking about.

Whenever you remove something from the default install, you remove at least
one trisquel meta-package. The meta-packages define the default install.

Both on this thread and on the feature request are not any bug posted. Known
bugs are (supossedly) treated by openssh maintainers. Don't change my words.
What I said was extremely clear.
Nobody here is talking about a bug in the SSH server. We are talking about a
bug in the Trisquel distribution that should not run a SSH server out of the
default install (without even telling the user that it is there).
What was wrong with my submission at
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/microsoft-now-fighting-uk-government-over-floss#comment-49938
It was to the point, expressed a lot of concerns, and provided some details.
Heck, compared to a lot of the posts on that site that were short and not as
Could you try installing the package linux-image-generic-lts-saucy? This is a
deblobbed version of the Ubuntu saucy kernel. I know that Ubuntu applies some
patches, so maybe they applied the patch for your touchpad.
To run openssh server is a decision made by the project leader not a bug.
Thus, to talk about a bug here you need to say that openssh has one.
To think that the decision of having openssh by default is not good is
request for a feature as Mzee made and I pointed out several times.
If a decision made was a reckless one and causes a major security hole,
that's a bug. The bug is the security hole, not SSH being installed by
default, but the cause is SSH being installed by default.
A bug that is ultimately caused by a programmer or packager's poor decision
is still a
