I can answer No 2, Yes, Ice cat is now the default browser as maintaining
A-browser was a little ineffcieint as it was duplicating work that Ice cat
had already done.
Better to just put all efforts into a single program when possible.
Regarding OP, what are you doing here, then? Install GnewSense 3 if you want
sysV's init!
Hi There,
Just installed Trisquel 6.0.1. Here is my /etc/apt/sources.list:
#deb cdrom:[Trisquel 6.0.1 _toutatis_ - Release amd64 (20140319)]/ toutatis main
# Trisquel repositories for supported software and updates

Try replacing http://nl.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ with
http://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/
Replaced ¨nl¨ with ¨in¨ http://nl.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/
because I reside in INDIA. Now only two repos failed. I wanted to use a
mirror than overloading the repo:
arnuld@gnu:~$ sudo aptitude update
Get: 1 http://in.archive.trisquel.info toutatis Release.gpg [198 B]
Get: 2 http://in.
Hello,
Another solution that worked for me is to remove or change the '.desktop'
extension of the following file:
/usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/orca-screen-reader.desktop
To do so,
open a terminal (right-clic on the desktop -> clic 'Open in terminal') and
type in
cd /usr/shar
Glad to hear that, enjoy freedom!
And what about the Libreboot X60 laptop?
It may provide more security in case of hardware backdoors (related to
firmware), doesn't it? However I do not understand very much about these kind
of issues...
Hi.
You can find a list of mirrors here (RedIRIS not working):
http://es.archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/
Interesting video.
But - why are the laptop lids closed?
The detected typing is done very slowly and deliberately - does that mean
that normal typing would overwhelm the system?
On the face of it, it does look like "worst fears" may be true. But it could
just as easily be faked to appear t
I have a fresh install of Trisquel 6.0.1 and I want to install GNOME 3. I got
this from an old post
(https://trisquel.info/en/forum/gnome-3-trisquel-6#comment-28627):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-session
and some instructions f
PPA instruction are here:

Sorry, forgot to post earlier
thanks Ali
I imagine that there's a lot that people can do with tools like this. I
opened a documentation page for it here:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/information-processing
I don't know whether "Information Processing" is the most appropriate name.
If there's a better name, please open a new page
I would run an upgrade before installing anything, but it probably doesn't
matter.
This is continuing. No security updates for 10 days, I think. See
http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/.
I installed "gnome-session" and "gnome-shell" from default repos and then did
"aptitude full-upgrade" and rebooted and GNOME displays in GDM drop-down list
too but on selecting it for login GDM says "can not launch gnome" .
So no luck with GNOME 3 in default repos :( . I will do tho PPA meth
Do you have 3-D acceleration? You need that for GNOME Shell 3.4. Otherwise,
you'll have to until you upgrade to Trisquel 7 to use it.
I complemented the documentation page a little.
Alright but there is no Icecat in the repo; Once you remove it, it is gone;
then you can only download the abrowser which is also outdated one.
Haha, "a little"; my only contribution was linking to your website.
My first run of the script was successful, and I now have a
"basename-matches" PDF. I renamed the match file to word-word-#ofhits.pdf
I run the script a second time, on that basename-matches PDF
(word-word-#ofhits.pdf), to achieve the "and" functionality. Unfortunatley,
on this second ru
Here is what was happening: 'pdfunit' expects *several* PDFs to unite. Not
one.
I corrected the problem (when one single PDF matches, the script uses 'mv'):

Thanks again, again
Trisquel comes with programs like mv and pdfunite right? Do most gnu users
(like me until very recently) have them on the computer and not use them? Or
do popular GUI programs depend on these kinds of programs to do things (like
"export to pdf" in LibreOffice)?
'mv' really is a basic command to "move" files (notice that moving to the
same directory but under a different name actually is "renaming"). It has
been present in every UNIX or UNIX-inspired system since the seventies.
The commands provided by the Poppler project (the "poppler-utils" package
It seems people expect Trisquel 7 to be fully polished and functional.
People, please remember these two points:
1. Trisquel 7 is not finished yet.
2. If you find stuff missing/incomplete/outdated/whatever else see point 1.
Do I need 3D acceleration for GNOME Shell ?
What do I need to do ? I have onboard ATI card:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]
RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]
Hardware acceleration of 3D graphics on that probably requires proprietary
software.
Why do you suppose Trisquel doesn't include GNOME Shell? :)
It has gnome-shell package and I have installed it too and now I get te
select in lightdm/gdm (GNOME, GNOME Classic,Xfce etc.) . Choosing GNOME
Classic lands me to usual menu based gnome and choosing GNOME gives this
message:
"can not launch gnome"
I do not know what is wrong but here is
Also what does this mean?
"Before building a ROM in libreboot (or coreboot, for that matter), you need
to configure it. This is done using the following inside the source tree:
$ make menuconfig"
I understand how to use the terminal, but how do you write a command in the
source tree?
Help with libreboot might be more on topic on the libreboot project
infrastructure (website, mailing lists, IRC channel, etc.)
Will do. I've taken it to the IRC.
This is also one of the main reasons why I switched to Trisquel from Windows
8 or why I switched to Free Software from non-free. I'd like to do something
really cool with it, like the Jarvis desktop theme in Windows 7 or the
rainmeter theme that also works with Windows 7.
Start with:
1) What Desktop I want ?
GNOME Classic, GNOME-Shell, KDE, Xfce, LXDE et.c etc.
2) Do I really want a Desktop ?
WindowMaker, Fvwm, ratpoison, stumpwm, Compiz, Blackbok, Fluxbox
3) Do I want virtual window Manager or Tiling or Stacking ?
I have never used an anti-virus on my machine. My friends put all of their
infected HDDs and CDs in my machine but GNU/Linux does not even cough :)
