I also reckon this is a very serious issue.
@Legimet: Which bug did you reopen?
@All: Wouldn't it be an option to script those updates by taking them from
the Ubuntu project? Doing these kind of things automatically would help a
great deal, don't you think so?
@Mzee, this is the bug report: https://trisquel.info/en/issues/12244
Thanks for the link. I hope this can be fixed ASAP.
When I connected a USB flash drive to the computer, one folder got
automatically copied to trash. The original folder wasn't deleted from the
USB though, trash contained just a copy. And what's more surprising, not all
files in the folder were sent to trash, only some of them.

That's pretty weird. Can you reproduce the bug reliably, so other people can
test it? Otherwise it'll be pretty hard to fix this.

By default, the Debian kernel contains no non-free blobs and if you
disable the non-free (and maybe contrib) repos, you are getting a
totally free distribution.
I understand that the repos are there to be enabled, but if you do not
Ruben said he disabled the automatic taking of updates from Ubuntu in
preparation for the new release. Anyway, this is not a reason to completely
stop the security updates since he can do it manually.
I have an external hard drive which used to be encrypted. Full disk
encryption with a LUKS container. The overhead seemed a bit too much. So I
went to system management - disk utility. I don't need a partition. I
formated it to NTFS from there. Everything went fine. Than I have wasted
Yes, it's weird indeed. If it wasn't a fresh install, I'd even start thinking
about malware. But I haven't noticed anything strange so far and chkrootkit
rkhunter do not display any signs of rootkits either.
I'll experiment a bit and try to reproduce the bug. I'll post on the forum as
soon
You have a Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wifi card. This uses
nonfree microcode so it's best to get a USB WiFi adapter from Thinkpenguin or
Tehnoetic.
He's got a Dell.
After reading the suggestions, I tried jxself's kernel. It resulted in the
ugly terminal boot screen being replaced by a nice Trisquel logo and
background, but it also killed my wi-fi access again, leaving me no way to
ask how to fix it.
So, I installed 6.01 instead. That's working
Thanks! I'll contact ThinkPenguin and get a recommendation.

Do you use an ath9k_htc adapter? (If you aren't sure, post the output of
running lsusb in a terminal)
I purchased the TPE-N150USB, which is indeed mentioned on the page you cited.
I think I'll wait a few more months before testing Trisquel 7 again.
