Someone already has asked the question although no response has been issued.
I can give it a try with the RC on one of my X60 Tablet convertibles if that
would help. I have a spare hard drive on its way that isn't too precious if I
mess up.
I still need to get those patches to you about the X60T with the weird video
card. I haven't forgotten, I just have the
My understanding is that the non-commercial use restriction is still in place
and so nothing has changed. Please report this in the Trisquel bug tracker.
So I recently noticed that Thunderbird is now installed in place of Icedove
in Trisquel 8. I understand the Thunderbird project has distanced itself from
Mozilla; but as far as I am aware Mozilla still handles the trademark and
legal aspects of the project.
My question is can we now
I compared the speed of booting on debian to devuan. Both on the same
computer.
This is from my experience of using both on librebooted x200.
But I actually used devuan instead of debian more due to Luke's knowledge of
systemd. apparently he says there are security issues with it and
One thing I will add to my above post, more errors exist with systemd also
then runit. That is another reason. ah well.
People who knew Ian Murdock well do say so. For example, her sister declared
to the police (investigating Ian's death) that he "has been having
psychological issues for about 20 years":

Is it really what Tiberiu calls "Chris'
I can confirm that the Trisquel iso image, while written successfully, won't
boot. The resulting usb stick is not bootable.
I tried Debian 9.01 Mate. It works as expected with the same dd command on
the same usb device.
I had a Surface RT and rather liked it. It was nice to use with Windows 8.
After about 3 years I gave it to my nephew who uses it for homework, drawing
etc.
Crazy glued everything back together. Crack sealed, accident resolved lol.

there?
Oh, it's very easy mate, do this: right click on the whiskermenu icon,
properties, tab 'behavior' -> mark 'position categories next to panel
buttons'.

What computer and **how new** ?

Try https://hidester.com/dns-leak-test/
https://dnsleaktest.com/ does the same job (as far as I know) but does not
require Javascript which means you don't need to worry about executing code
that could be malware.
It would be good to know if one DNS test does
Hi,
Libreboot is a libre BIOS/UEFI replacement that I and others work on. One of
our contributors recently re-added this guide:
https://libreboot.org/docs/gnulinux/encrypted_trisquel.html
This shows how to install Trisquel with encrypted /boot/, aswell as
encrypting the rest of the
NOTE: you must use the netinstaller
Never heard about it slowing things. Are you sure?
I could try to input kernel parameters (acpi=off, vga=normal), but I guess I
need GRUB then (I doubt I can do it with SeaBIOS alone).
From the liveCD:
hardware detection tool says : failed to load libmenu.c32 and COM32 file

In your menu you've got the categories to the left. How did you get them
there?
Dear Trisquel users,
Thank you all for your help. Unfortunately, I have once more failed in
creating a bootable
usb stick. I used the dd command, and I think I did it correctly, but I still
could not boot
the usb stick.
To check whether I had used the dd command correctly, I downloaded a

Hi! Sometimes and on some older hardware especially (I have one such laptop,
2004 stuff) USB boot just won't work :/
In these rare occasions the best is to burn a DVD and install it it from
there.
If for some reason.. no dvd.. then 'dd' is indeed IMHO the fastest and most
reliable way
I can't speak for Tiberiu, but I believe the reference may have been to

where Chris claimed Ian was suffering from mental health issues.
You might be better off using the dd command (but please read the warning
below first!). Open a terminal, type 'dd if=/path/to/ISO of=/dev/sdX'
(/path/to/ISO is the file path of the ISO, and /dev/sdX is the USB device
found in little grey letters in the title bar of GNOME disks when you have
Use dd.
sudo dd if=/path/to/image.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=8M;sync
Thanks for your comments and suggestions!
Especially onpon4's, ADFENO's and strypey's points made me reconsider my role
in this software issue and I decided to write to the technical support team.
You will find a translation of my inquiry below.
Please note that I'm not in the US and I'm
Dear Trisquel users,
I would like to try the alpha version of Trisquel 8, but I have failed in
creating a bootable usb
stick.
I have downloaded the file trisquel_8.0_amd64.iso, checked the md5sum, and I
have tried
to move it to a usb stick by using gnome-disk-utility version 3.12.1,
