You don't have a clue, my dear.
In Trisquel is possible to install non-free software.

If Stretch or older you'll need this.

Which version of Debian do you have?
Unfortunately it looks like LXDE has broken dependencies too.

muh man! :)
Nice. I just started with the default, shrunk and added to the panel, and
installed Synapse.
It is very unsettling how many companies seem to be embracing this very
closed philosophy towards hardware and drivers.
Are they releasing a new GPU that will only work with this new non-free
driver?
Debian is 100% free and so is Trisquel. But in Debian it's possible to
install non-free software. When I'm using Trisquel my TP-Link WN422G (usb
wifi adapter) works perfectly without any modifications, but on Debian
requires non-free firmware (firmware-atheros). What is going on? Which OS is

Yes I know but this a push by Google and Intel to get DRM into the kernel.
Most people in the FreeSoftware world use Intel for graphics this will stop
it. non-free is bad enough but now DRM. By the way I like Assange.
Didn't you know? Google IS evil. They have been evil for a long time. Read

MATE's your uncle! I installed T8 minimal netinst. Added xorg, lightdm and

Interesting - thanks for the info. I use LXDE on my laptop - has anyone tried

If you stick to MATE everything works great except for a few minor bugs. The
only important missing/broken packages I've run into are firmware-ath9k-htc

some dependencies of Xfce. Things like this might be what is h

System76 are disabling Intel ME and all, I think, models that they sell.
People with more knowledge than me, could this lead to librebooting these
systems or is more needed.
Needless to say they are doing this from a security point not a FreeSoftware
point.

It's indeed strange, I also experienced it when I first tried, all I had
to do was:
1. Install `smtpmail-async' Emacs module/package.
2. Require it in the ".emacs" file, with something like:

(require 'smtpmail-async nil t)
--8<---
Trisquel 8 is working flawlessly for most of us using it.
I recently migrated from Fedora and the only difference I have felt is the

I have had the same experience as calher. The X60 is just a software

Also, the "Eva Luator" and the "mail.provider.tld" are just examples, I
don't have anything to do with them and I don't know if they exist.
I know that "Eva Luator" is sometimes used as an example name in the
field of programming. ;)
It's easy to find a working X60/X200 in the garbage, flash it with
Libreboot, and use it. For most things, they work. I play Minetest and
watch movies in Kodi without issues.
My only problem is VMs, and this has made it hard if not impossible to
work on Trisquel 8.

Personally, I prefer Emacs Gnus for sending and reading email.

I have decided to stay on Trisquel 7 for the following reasons.

Nothing wrong with VLC its just that I prefer mpv.
I've been using Trisquel 8 for about 6 months now and it's basically been

could call it Trisquel 8. By the way, I was unaware there is an issue with
VLC. Whats wrong with it?
Congrats on the upgrade!

When it comes to efficiently edit texts, both are excellent... once you know

Are you sure you are actually running Trisquel 6? Executing the following
