This is normal and shouldn't cause any problems (note that it's only a
warning). Linux detects that the Direct Memory Access (DMA) Remapping ACPI
table (part of Intel VT-d, the IOMMU) is initialized wrong. This will be
fixed in a future release of libreboot.
Hi Trisquelers, I would welcome some perspective and advice regarding an
apparently corrupted hard drive.
Last Christmas I gave my brother a laptop from MiniFree, with Trisquel
installed. Just days ago he told me he booted it and it went straight to a
busybox console. Reading up on this,

I followed comment #2 and the last one in the Arch forum. Now I have slimlock
working with systemd. I use ratpoison and xdm.

@nadebula.1984 Thanks for you suggestion. Recently replaced the HDD with your
suggested SSD :)

Finally, I have tried just now and the problem is still present.
In consequence, the 4.4.0-154-lowlatency release did not resolve the problem
:-/
I do not have any clue why it was working when I tried it on the beginning of
this afternoon...
Best regards.
I just did a new install and can't find whatever setting controls this.
I can only lock my system manually, or by waiting for the screensaver to
start and lock it. Closing the lid puts it to sleep but does not lock the
system.
I tried this with the latest Icecat with a fresh install of Trisquel Mini.
I'm happy to report that it does in fact work, but with one extra step, you
have to reboot before Icecat shows up anywhere. Once you reboot, it's fine.
Hello people,
I have tried today the suspend / hibernate functionality and it worked!
I haven't change anything since the beginning but now after regular system
updates it seems to be OK.
My system is now:
$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 4.4.0-154-lowlatency (jenk...@devel.trisquel.info)
> Can you be more specific? Do you get a black screen, or can you log into
a command line?
I can login in the command line. (There is only no gui anymore)
>Are you saying that you now have a dual boot, where one partition is
your GUI-less Trisquel 8 system and another is your Debian/Trisquel 7
Yes, indeed, that sounds like the best plan now.
Thanks.
