OMG Beko, it worked.
The solution was to install the "linux-image-extra-hwe-16.04-edge", which not
only installed all the required ethernet Realtek modules but also support for
NTFS which was not installed with the Linux-generic kernel.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
yes I thought about that but I don't know which kernel I should install. I
tried with the latest one, the 4.15.0-74-generic, I can also choose between
signed, generic, hwe and others, and I don't know the differences.

What xliang said was true. I have a long article I name it "Support
Open Document Format" presenting several the importance of ODF, why we
all should avoid OOXML, danger of software patents, and many
references & organizations that support ODF too. you can read here
https://linuxdreambox.wordpress.
Starting version 2007, Microsoft Office should be able to handle ODF files,
although it always try to persuade users to convert them to Microsoft's
"open" format.
Using free software and free formats allows users to publish their works to
everyone, because only free/open formats are interop
I decided to give the new Trisquel 9 graphical live system a spin, and found
that the orca screen reader will not start. First, I tried waiting about 10
minutes after boot, thinking it might start in the manner to which I'm
accustomed in Trisquel. When nothing seemed to happen, I ticked the
How do you graphically launch LibreOffice? Double clicking on an executable?
Using a "launcher"?
You can easily have Trisquel 9's default kernel in Trisquel 8: install the
package named "linux-image-generic-hwe-8.0". It is in Trisquel 8's
repository.
Perhaps try reinstalling the netinstall and changing the kernel you choose
when installing. That might help with the ethernet drivers maybe?

Could you tell us what kind of mobile phone you use? It needs kind of
courage.
Hi everyone, I need help.
I installed a minimal Trisquel 9.0 setup with no desktop environment. My idea
was to install AwesomeVM without any pre-installed DE.
All was fine but when I rebooted and the shell opened, I had no internet
connection.
Command "sudo ifconfig" tells me that I only have
For the case currently I do not know. I sent him ODF files once and he was
"unable" to open them. I am publishing in .docx still, I adapted and don't
use certain features like the floating text-boxes because often they are
distorted or moved.

correctly."
I would love to, but he's my uncle and I can't really be that way with him.
I'm not a professor or anything I don't have that clout.

Not an error per se, it says it's not installed. I removed the original
libreoffice suite from my machine, then installed the 6.3 version. In the
application launcher it says 'libreoffice 6.3' whereas before it was just
'libreoffice'. Replace office with whichever program.

I cannot find the "Add software shortcut" on Trisquel 9 Application menu. Of
course I can add software through the terminal or Synaptic, but that shorcut
was quite helpful. Am I missing something?

How well do they each work? Do you have a preference for one over the
other?

I see. Could it be that the problem appeared at some point in the long life
of Trisquel 7? Otherwise it must have appeared with the first Trisquel 8
kernel, but I would have thought the updates would have brought newer kernel
since.
In Trisquel 7, Totem was actually the default video player. I had no problem
with it. I only switched to VLC when I adopted Trisquel 8.
I cannot be absolutely positive about it, but I seem to remember that Totem
was not working with Trisquel 7 already when I installed at some point in the
middle of 2017, because I clearly remember to have had some hope it would
work when I upgraded to Trisquel 8.
You want that line in the preamble:
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
Then, write normally. For instance write ä and not \" a.
It looks like the issue is with Intel's rendering code, in the kernel. Have
you tried running totem with a different version of the kernel?
Try 'texlive-lang-european'. Both Swedish and Finnish use the same characters
(umlauts å, ä, ö) and usepackages.
Thank you very much for your help! We are using both Jami and Jitsi Meet and
both work quite well.
Thank you! Although we have switched to Jami and Jitsi Meet now, I can try
and install the most recent version just to give it a go and see if it works.
How can I access the backports repository? I don't know how that works.
Hi again!
Maybe I was not precise; I know the latex commands, which must write in the
text. But I have not the packages installed. So the question is how to
install packages for Swedish language.
Hi!
I want to write Swedish characters, (å,ä,ö) in my latex document. What
should I do?
Thanks!
I have also not been able to use Totem for a long time on Trisquel, maybe
ever since I started using Trisquel almost three years ago. If I use the
launcher, the window closes instantly after appearing. Through the terminal I
get similar error messages to the ones you quote.
VLC is quite OK
An SSD usually has more internal memory than advertised, so that wear
leveling (you can read more on "wear leveling" on sites like Wikipedia) can
be performed. This means that when you "overwrite" a specific address of the
drive multiple times, the SSD may write over different internal memory
