Yes, go with Intel VGAs to be safe. I do not have any NVIDIA/ATI but
only Intel so I never find any problem with VGA on Trisquel.
As if my shack is a nightclub.
The both lights are sparkling energetically now.
It was solved. Sorry for the fuss. I cannot explain it in English but it was
my misunderstanding :p
Yes, and lots of 750ti's for under $40 on ebay. Might be worth grabbing a 780
and a 750, see how they run. Re-sell the one that's not needed back on ebay.
> For me what I think I will do long term is still look to invest in a Talos
II system for gaming but not use Trisquel on it. It won't be fully libre
software then but will be more libre than running an X86 CPU.
It's a fair and honest viewpoint, but for me, if I'm going to spend that much

Seeing that a GT 710 seems to work with Trisquel I would be a little
surprised if a GTX 750 Ti didn't work. I just did some quick browsing on Ebay
and even a GTX 780 Ti 4GB can be had for $100 CAD so I may look into that as
well. At that price even if it didn't work for what I wanted I would
AMD is more friendly to free software than Nvidia but it is not totally
friendly. The microcode and firmware of AMD GPUs are still closed off blobs,
it is the drivers that are open source. So the issue is that when trying to
use many newer GPUs from AMD on Trisquel they don't work properly as
What's wrong with ATI/AMD?
I've read they are more friendly to free software than Nvidia.
You can encrypt the swap partition. I found the thread where I explained how
I did it ('sudo ecryptfs-setup-swap' was not enough):

I'm looking for the same solution, as I'd like to get a Talos Blackbird
motherboard if Trisquel 9 is ported to the Power9 chip like has been
discussed. Intel is not a solution for that, so maybe the GTX750Ti would
work. All I need is basic graphics, nothing special. I've read that the
Black
Realtek wifi cards started working on a hit or miss basis with the
Linux-libre kernel at least a couple of years ago. I'm surprised you did not
know that Chris. There was some effort to put basic instructions in for them,
and some of them work just fine. I have a Samsung laptop with a Realtek
It is possible that very few non-Atheros cards do work without non-free
firmware.

I am sorry I cannot help you, but at least I can tell a funny
story - I like to watch machines fighting themselves.
Years ago, when I was using Ubuntu, I learned that hibernation
wasn't a safe practice because ever
