Same here. This process should be two-way, and I really wish they'd fix
it. My e-mail client is my universal interface, so to speak- I am too
lazy to visit the website and log in, so having

That's not how things are supposed to work- the most vaunted feature of
Trisquel's mailing list is that it is possible to read posts from and

For several months I have not been recieving mail from the Trisquel-users
mailing list, except for those posts which have themselves been posted by email
directly to the list.
A few months/week ago (I forget when) there was a tentative "fix" which
resulted in 8000 posts being thrown at me

No.
Oh yeah, Mini vMac is pretty good too, and GPL. You need to source your
own system ROMs though.
AppleWin is (was?) my Apple II* emulator of choice back when I used
Windows. I haven't needed one for some time though... *sigh*. I miss
the bleep noise and the ] prompt.
It is GPL.
Anyone know of

You realise the vast majority of "open source" programs also qualify as
free software?
As for an alternative, there's always the Free Software Directory
(http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Main_Page).
How much RAM are you using without suspend tabs? Open a typical
multi-tab IceCat/Abrowser setup and have a look at System Monitor. If
the slowness is *really* bad, this may be because you have gone into
swap.

That juxtaposition though.
One more thing- if this present system is really important to you and
you don't want to reinstall, one solution is to compare existing
package versions with those in the main repository, and uninstall those
with higher version numbers, reinstalling them from belenos,
belenos-updates, and
You're stuck in something of a rut now. The way apt works is that it
compares the installed versions of packages with the versions available
in repositories, and updates if a higher version number is available to
replace the existing installed version. Without reinstalling or
manually downgrading

It's been almost peaceful having nothing from Trisquel in my inbox for
a while... anyway, let's hope this gets resolved.

'Emotionally attached' is an interesting turn of phrase.
The real difference is one of advocacy- open source advocates free
software as a superior development process, primarily to businesses,
while the free software movement advocates

This is true. I think it is bad for free software to have non-free
dependencies, but that being the case does not negate the software
license and make it
At face value I really like the idea of Copyfarleft- but I think this is one of
the areas where compromise really is necessary. It is hard enough getting
businesses to use free software as it is, and if we restrict the realm of
possibility to only worker coops then most businesses (which are

This isn't technically against the community guidelines, but I
apologise in advance for the propaganda.

What do you mean by this? What are the symptoms of the problem?
Bump.
Endorsement of Google should have no place in GNOME, and I'm surprised
that there was no uproar about the inclusion of support and suggestion
for such accounts in a default component of what is supposed to be a
GNU-endorsed desktop environment. Forget GOA privacy issues- the
accounts it suggests
