Do you know how I might do that on Trisquel? Do I want to add a Debian repo
or would that mess things up?
So meet.jit.si looks good but on both abrowser and icecat it says I have an
unsupported browser. Anyone know how to get it to work?
Also I have found OpenShot to be much better than Pitivi.
If you're using Gnome Shell then it has a recorder built in.
Press Ctrl, Alt, Shift and R to start and stop.
The file is saved as webm in the Videos folder.
There is this template which says it will work in libre office.

Hi anatom
What sometimes works for me is get the "user agent switcher" addon for
abrowser and download the user agents from here
http://techpatterns.com/forums/about304.html
Then change user agent to android and you can sometimes get a different link
;)

I've been using Trisquel as my only OS for almost two years now. I used
Ubuntu briefly and then found Richard Stallman. Was lucky with my hardware in
that it worked without problems. Then I was inspired to get a free bios in
the form of libreboot and got a gluglug http://shop.gluglug.org.uk/
You can also get unofficial TV addons from tvaddons.ag but legally and in
terms of libre compatibility I am really not sure.
Here's the link to the Radio addon http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Radio it's
GPLv2 and the source link is on that page :)
It's now called Kodi http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Kodi
You can use XBMC (or Kodi as it's called now) and get the radio add-on. Don't
know if you can record but you can definitely listen ;)
zsnes appears in add/remove programs after a search for nintendo but does not
have a description.
I think it has been removed from the repos but some vestige of it still
remains.
Can't remember where I got these instructions but they work for me.
I've never got aQemu to do anything so this is all from the terminal.
This creates a flexible disk image:
qemu-img create -f qcow2 trisquel.img 100g
In the directory where you made your image put your iso and:
sudo kvm -m 1024
Thanks magic 'nana although I feel like I shouldn't be seeing this! (funny)
tomlukeywood: Just go to media/ open network stream and paste the url there.
I'm pretty ruthless with javascript these days so all youtube gets played in
VLC this way or downloaded with unplug and DownThemAll. In the UK now lots of
videos to do with local government and the scandals coming to
Well it's took me nearly a week (my internet searching leaves a lot to be
desired) but I finally found the developers answer.
Hi,
the current ubuntu guvcview version is broken with kernels >= 3.16, you need
the latest version 2.0.1
You can get it from the sourceforge download (Files) section
How will people be watching this? I've tried watching youtube live with vlc
but the most I ever get is about ten seconds before it crashes. My internet
is pretty slow, about 3mb download. Messed with the settings but it always
seems to pick the highest resolution which can't help.
dave_catf...@joindiaspora.co.uk
It's on Lenovo g580 i3 with Creative Labs Live Cam
Curiously forgot about vlc but on T6 it was terrible.
Just tried VLC now and with 100ms caching it seems almost perfect.
;) Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I have all those packages and I've messed with every
setting I can find. I'm using 64bit but if I know someone has it working I
guess it must be at my end. Thanks again.
Could anyone confirm or deny whether guvcview is working for them? Thanks
Guvcview worked brilliantly in Trisquel 6. Cheese works and the video in
Jitsi is great in Trisquel 7 but I have no picture in Guvcview. Is anyone
else having this problem?
Dave. Click the open menu bar with the 3 horizontal lines.
At the bottom left of the menu is the customise button.
Firefox Hello is a grey smiley face in a speech bubble.
After you've dragged it to your tool bar click exit customise. Bottom left
again.
It's not that difficult to see the back of the lcd screen this vid is pretty
good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTkp7zC0wGg You've just got to watch out
for the glue. Good luck :)
Add-ons page does not work in IceCat. It's fine in Abrowser.
Doh! Sorry

Note that the torrents are not yet active in the tracker, until the
official release.

Thanks for the reply onpon4. I have the 64-bit version of Trisquel 6. Should
I press the upgrade button or not? Thanks again.
Hi all. In update manager I have this message:
Your current Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) is going out of support
on 07/08/14. After this date security updates for critical parts (kernel
and graphics stack) of your system will no longer be available.

Thanks onpon4
On livestream I can get the rtsp link if I use user agent switcher add-on to
be an android with opera.
I also had to go to advanced settings in VLC, click inputs/codecs, scroll to
the bottom and changed the cache setting to 500.
Works brilliantly
Cheers
I've put Trisquel Mini on an old NEC Pentium 4 and it's fantastic.
I did install Abrowser though as Midori is a very light browser.
Make the switch Dave you won't look back.
Dave in UK
But this is the topic I started :(
Forgot all about this.
http://salfordascension.org/
Hadn't noticed before but it isn't https.
How do you do that?
I had this same problem. After saving the grub text did you do : sudo
update-grub?
Wow 14 hrs later I think I've got HTML and CSS pretty much embedded in my
brain.
Think I've managed to cobble together a pretty decent website I'll post a
link when it goes online.
Cheers Guys
I've sort of been volunteered to look into creating a website for a local
charity. Any advice on what Gnu license software I might start to play with?
You could try "add BBC internet radio stations to rythymbox" in
duckduckgo
But I couldn't guarantee that it would do any good.
That sounds like exactly the kind of thing I want Liberty ;)
Just could do with a little help finding my OpenVPN servers network (the
10.x.y.z one)
Thanks for any help.
Hmmm sussed it. IPV4 settings, Method Automatic (DHCP) addresses only, put
the DNS servers in then.
Turn off the connection and turn it on again!
Should have really watched an episode of the IT Crowd for the answer!
Yes that is the trouble ;) Any idea how to fix it?
Hi all
I recently got an openvpn service. I'd like to use the DNS provided by the
VPN rather than my ISP. The advice on the VPNs forun is to edit
/etc/resolv.conf but Trisquel says this file will be overwritten.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks Lembas I've ordered one of those :)
Must say I'm enjoying Trisquel.
Figured out how to apply the Gnome Shell with a lot of help from this forum
and I've got to say I'm made up.
Thanks again
Hi all I'm going to move from ubuntu to this here trisquel. I booted from
usb, wireless works fine but I prefer to keep that off and have my
connections wired.
Ubuntu works fine with the wired connection but trisquel doesn't notice it at
all.
I haven't installed it to the hard drive yet. I ty
