Oh thanks. Then I misunderstood that. :-) Thanks.
You could disable all effects by removing the package compton. I did it
since I don't like those effects.
I did't find a way to disable them through the settings. But as far as I read
there are ways to configure certain things using the compton cli program.
As far as I know, Firefox uses a lot JavaScript for internal stuff. For
example for configuration. Have a look at the output of
dpkg -L abrowser | grep js$
to see what JavaScript files are included in the Abrowser package
But anyway: since it's shipped together with Firefox (IceCat/Abrowser)
I should have known that earlier! :D Thanks for the info. I wonder if this is
mentioned in the wiki.
Sorry, my bad. Thanks for noticing.
Please let me know when you finished, I'll do a translation to German then.
It's inside compton's launcher script in /usr/bin/compton-launcher:
[ -f ~/.config/disable-compton ] exit 0
Never mind! I found the file after downloading the source code and greping
(egrep -ir disable-compton) it. :-)
Thanks for you efforts.
Sans? Is there a monospace variant? If not, it's rather a font for
LibeOffice, but for a terminal?
This one looks great! I'll give it a try! Thanks Turtleman.
Thanks. I tried it but this one's too cornered for my taste.
I tried some fonts and different hinting settings and I'm now using DejaVu
Mono 11pt. Perhaps I'll switch and try others as well. There are so many
great fonts available!
And of course, I'll only use Free Fonts. :-)
OK, Droid Sans looks much better. Not perfect yet, but better. :D I don't
like fonts where symbols like @ and $ look squashed and bold.
I tried to set the hinting in the gnome-tweak-tool to full, but that didn't
look that good either.
I guess I have to get used to those fonts. :-) If you
They should do the same on Debian... If you install the default desktop and
want to remove a packege like LibreOffice it will delete your whole X window
system as a dependency...
Hey,
I finally installed Trisquel GNU/Linux on my main machine and I encountered a
rather ugly font in my gnome-terminal. So I installed the Ubuntu fonts and
configured them. But I don't really want to use it. :-)
What terminal fonts do you use? Can you suggest some (especially the ones
First of all: welcome to Trisquel!
1) yes. I would say it's pretty user friendly (in the sense that you have
graphical programs for almost everything) and you have the advantage of the
four freedoms (see: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html)
3) Since it's based on Ubuntu, you can
As a web developer, I'd be more pragmatic here. As jabjabs wrote, you can't
get all the users to use Free Software. And you're earning money from it. So,
I'd say: try to use Free Software as much as possible but not at any cost.
You could use a different machine or a virtual machine for non
Very nice! I didn't know this site. Thanks for sharing!
Have a look at KVM. See the Wiki page:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/virtualization-using-kvm
I have another question: is it possible to switch back to the GNOME Shell?
Thanks, I'll try it. The default DM isn's GDM? I thought it is.
You're probably right but the english section is more active. I'd ask and
answer in the German section as well, but for now I will probably get more
responses here. :-)
I found most answers I needed.
1) I found the Team website. There are obviously German translators (or at
least one). He is probably not translating the webpage, perhaps I can help
out there.
2) --- Team wiki page: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/trisquel-team
3) Answered in this thread.
Hello,
I've heard about Trisquel GNU/Linux and saw some screenshots and got
interested in it. So far it seems nice, but I've got some questions:
1) are there any native German speakers translating the website? I'd say
there isn't since the poor translation.
2) how big is the Trisquel
Sorry, forgot to mention before posting:
5) is the team, or at least some of the Trisquel team actively reading this
forum or are they rather using the mailing list?
